I want to keep doing this!

So two things I'm dwelling on now...

First, what are the chances of turning North Wind into a series? Have any of the CCN winners discussed this with Z2H to see what would be necessary to get further publications out of an IP?

Second, I can't wait to do more of this! Has anyone published comics outside of the Z2H contests and have techniques/strategies for getting a se

The hardest part...

The script for Fala is finalized, the artist has been selected (great watercolor work, very excited to see what he does with this story), and the panels are well on their way to thumbnailing. And what was the hardest part for me so far? The freakin' sound effects! Chainsaws, police sirens, alarms, timers, car crashing, all that fun stuff. The challenge for me was trying to keep it from look

Professional publications?

So the recent Dark Horse post got me thinking...

Is anyone published in any other form (book or short stories), and if so, what publishers?

Working on North Wind today!

Don't give up on me just yet! I have the script written but I'm doing major edits. Since it's non-linear, it all needs to be written first then reorganized in a sense. I'm planning to get up as much of it as possible today right after this midwife meeting thingy to weigh the baby.

What a beautiful day.

About a week ago on Thursday, I was getting a routine check-up with my midwives and my blood pressure had spiked. No surprise, I thought, been really busy working to get things done before the baby's due date anywhere around July 5-10. They ask for blood work, and a wild adventure begins, one of crisis and recovery. It turned out I had/have (still recovery) Hellp Syndrome, and needed induce

Competitions for Aspiring Game Artists

I'm totally not an artist myself (I respect what you guys do quite a bit), so I thought I'd share a competition with everyone related to game art if anyone's interested. There's one just for women to get a scholarship into an online game art program, and another revolved around submitted 2D or 3D art for classes. You can also get subscriptions to the Game Developers Magazine and

I broke it.

My laptop took a spill and now the i key isn't working (obviously I am stealing someone else's computer right now). It's a Macbook Pro, so I'm scared to death it's done for good. I can't write on anyone else's system (I need to be tucked in a safe corner with my laptop huddled up near me), so I'm pretty much screwed for any additions to the scripts for Fala and N

On North Wind

I'm not really sure what happened. I have every reason to be tired. But I just couldn't sleep. I figured, well, I should just let the steampunk one go for now, too much workwork to do. That didn't help though. I was still fidgity and went at a game of Lumines--almost got through the base game, argh! I got three colors ahead of where I've been before at least.

On Fala

For me, Fala is a fun tongue-in-cheek type of story that comes from, obviously, Alice in Wonderland. It's like a modern urban Native take on the old story. When I first thought of it in the form of a short film, I was thinking about what a great Trickster (Cheshire Cat) character a friend named Cowboy Smithx would make (tall quirky Blackfoot) and what a great Badger (Caterpillar) Duane Howa
