This blog will hopefully be a chronicle to my adventures in comic-making. Maybe a road map for those willing to follow, maybe a dire warning for the wise to heed... only time will tell!

Dark Horse and Writing Submissions

(Last time I wrote this post, it wouldn't show up... so here it is again!)

One of the editors from Dark Horse, Diana Shutz, stopped by a local comic shop last week, Drawn & Quarterly, to talk about comic-related things.

I was, quite unfortunately, unable to attend, but some very good friends of mine were able to and I provided them with a few questions I would

So hey, remember my Starsong pitch?

(*cough* http://www.zeros2heroes.com/pitch/19 *cough*)

I haven't worked on it in a while and, to be honest, I'm probably not going to work on it anymore until I can figure out a way to consolidate it as a comic. It was originally written as a movie short, intended to be about twenty minutes, so while the story was short, it made i

Broken Nexus

As I'm writing this, the pitch only has about 9 pages up, but it's still enough to make me want more and wait eagerly to see what happens next. I'd like to thank Crackwalker for pointing me in its direction.

The short of it is this: in the future, some people exhibit incredible powers. The Imperium takes control of these people and exploit them for the advancement of human tec

Geeking Out, Joss Whedon Style

Alright, so. This post will only interest those who are familiar with/like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Everyone else that has no interest in this can move along, nothin' to see here...

Okay, first thing, I'd just like to mention how I got into Buffy. After wandering the internet and geek circles for some time now, it's occurred to me that many people were intro

More Slaughter For Your Ink

So now all the pages have been "pencilled" at least once by both Steve and Kuba and all that remains are reviews and refinements. Having completed all the missing pages, Kuba has now gone back to re-do Steve's seven pages from the beginning until he meets up with where he left off.

It's getting exciting now! With the work being put into the comic, it's had me thinkin

Your Billion-dollar Budget

I was thinking about this and was curious to know what other people thought.

Let's say you just finished making the Lord Of The Rings movies. Hollywood producers now see you as a gold mine and allow you to do whatever movie you want. You have access to all the talent, props and special effects you would need to make any kind of movie. No limits.

So what sort of movie would you m

I just finished the trade paperbacks of Grant Morrisson and Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men, excitedly awaiting the fourth trade to come out to see where the story goes after that utterly ridiculous cliffhanger. If you haven't read these, I highly recommend them.

To be honest, I'm not really a big Marvel fan, but their comics are good entertainment. I started

Age of Conan

Anyone here ever read the old Conan comics?

I remember, years ago, someone had given us a box with some old deteriorating Conan comics, translated in French since I was in Quebec at the time. I was so young when I read them that the sex and violence didn't resonate with me at all, and all that concerned me in the stories was the fact that Conan was having these amazing adventures.

Get My Vote!

I am pretty terrible when it comes to sitting down and reading pitches. I'm like a very lazy cat that won't move from the sun unless you poke him repeatedly, but once I get moving I move fast.

The best way to get me to look at your pitch is if you send me a private message. Chances are, I'll give your pitch quite a thorough look-through and offer to write a critique or review,
