There's no Guns here...

Just the facts:

Hallow's Eve has been Viewed, Collected, and Voted for more than any other - beside's this weekend's predicted Winner: Genrewriter - Top 10 pitch to date!

A WHOPPING 13 votes!

1st place - 3

2nd place - 4

3rd place - 2

4th place - 3

5th place - 1

* All Votes from respected members of Z2H (except my Mom) who recognize what I'm trying to do with this story - I think.

What am I trying to do, you ask?

I've been reading a lot of Manga lately, and it reminded me of the cool influences I had when growing up - literary like...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighting_Fantasy

Which brings me to Ale Aragon (Reboot's 22 page penciller) who, like me, sees Hallow's portrayed in the style of Jae Lee's The Dark Tower.

But can one tell a Manga-like story in comic book format utilizing Comic book art? I hope so because I want to tell a sweeping story one usually associates with Manga, in 22 page chapters - forever!

Manga is translated into dozens of languages, crosses multiple platforms (Anime, Video Games, Figurines), and is entertaining as hell for those of us who grew up with Fighting Fantasy, Choose-Your-Own Adventure, D&D etc.

So, this is what I want to do with Hallow's; an Intense Horror story with recognizable mythos using unique characters, and situations, fighting for the ability to live their own unique way of life the way they want to...

And I want to present it (issue wise) as if it were a Mixed Tape one would listen to when alone and depressed, and wanting to feel better - or atleast hear/read about someone who's experiencing something all together worse in order to re-evaluate their own sadness...

That means it starts off with an inner-reflection, followed by seemingly desperate loneliness, and then sparked back to life with Hope (whatever  Music does this for you - I find that Blind Melon and specifically singer Shannon Hoon's tragic music laced with brilliance, does this for me; next is the pumped-up Rock Anthem (see: Chapter II, read: Action); then comes the Ballad, the Tortured Artist, Fun 80s Cheese, and then more depressing shit - all the while being surrounded by Vampires (Good & Bad) trying to KILL you.

So, if you're with me and believe I can pull it off - I sure could use your help to make it happen - next weekend ;D

I'll leave you with a cool quote I stole from someone else on Deviantart.com

"Do not follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thanks everyone,

Matt.

I've never been able to see the voting information like that -- am I the only one in the dark?

Maybe I'm the only one in the Light! LOL. http://www.zeros2heroes.com/pitch/453 That one's mine... but you're probably more interested in Ruroshen's... http://www.zeros2heroes.com/pitch/97 Tell me if you see his votes.

I never could see the voting stats either... and have never been able to find out why. Good luck with your idea, Matt! When I re-read your pitch (probably tomorrow) I'll keep this in mind.

No, I don't see Ruroshen's, yours, or mine. Weird.

Thanks for re-reading the pitch MTD, and you might note that I made a little tweak to the Mixed Tape metaphor above, as well.

Or maybe I mean 'analogy.'

We'll never know, but I'd be curious to know who votes for Hallow's Eve. I'm wondering because my own pitch won CCN with only half that number of votes, and so did others before... The math is weird and doesn't seem to add up, especially with the "All Votes from respected members of Z2H (except my Mom)" bit.

genrewriter and maria this may have something to do with your browser possibly? Do you use Firefox? The site is excellent for Firefox. And Matt, I do really enjoy your story: the problem is there are so many good ones. I do truly believe that you will be a winner before long. This summer if not next week. Hang in there!!!

I use Internet Explorer. I see some stats, just not all of them apparently.

Yeah, same issue when I'm at work: old IE and non-updated Flash version = site is cranky and doesn't perform as well as back home. My best recommendation, GW: use Firefox. It's more secure, anyway.

I actually have the latest version of IE (I think). But lots of people hate it and love Firefox, so I should probably give your recommendation a try.

Firefox shows the stats, but didn't want to pass through my authentication to rate and make comments on pitches, so, like, whatever. urg. And Matt's pitch is gone as of Sunday evening -- I was doing my reading over of pitches and it was nowhere to be found. Just a blank box where I had it slotted on my votes from last week.

Maybe just privatized to tweak it. I do that too when I have to overhaul something.
