My laptop took a spill and now the i key isn't working (obviously I am stealing someone else's computer right now). It's a Macbook Pro, so I'm scared to death it's done for good. I can't write on anyone else's system (I need to be tucked in a safe corner with my laptop huddled up near me), so I'm pretty much screwed for any additions to the scripts for Fala and North Wind until I get this fixed... or have to buy a new one. Choke.

If anyone else has ever spilled anything on their Macbook Pro and the keys have recovered, please make me feel better...

Never used a Macbook Pro, though I do run an eMac and had a "major" problem, or so I thought, with the operating system. When I took it in the fix was easy and free, so you never know for sure. One thing's for sure we need to get you back in the game: your pitches are awesome!

Ouch. I had an old Sony machine that got a spill. I tipped it upside down and let it drain. Surprisingly, it still worked afterwards. In other news, there is an apple store opening on saturday in downtown vancouver as well as mac station in yaletown that should be able to help diagnose the issue and possibly find a solution faster?

Yeah I just took it to the Mac store off Broadway. $270 just to diagnose it, ouch. I hope they can fix it though. Otherwise... new machine it is. I'm thinking about doing analog script writing on a notebook for now over the weekend and then just sneaking on another computer to put it up. Because they don't know when it'll be fixed.

I've spilled stuff on my keyboard before - and depending on what it is, it could be a goner. If it's water or something else that will just dry up, then you're probably fine. If it's coffee or something that will leave gunk when it dries up then you're probably screwed. Computers don't like to get wet. Sorry. I'm not familiar with the MacBook Pro, but maybe you'll just have to replace the keyboard if that's any consolation...

I saw n the apple site that they have some refurbished MacBook Airs for around $1700 - so if you have to take a hit in the wallet - you could grab yourself one off those to replace it.

One more reason for me never to get a laptop - I'm too clumsy with drinks. That, or I'd be too scared to spew my drink all over it; I have this curse where people say the most ridiculously hilarious stuff right when I'm swallowing some liquid...
