ReBoot was about the cutting edge at the time it was created, but now it's more about nostalgia than anything else. Trying to be the most technically impressive these days is almost impossible with the likes of animation geniuses like pixar animation studios. I think bringing back that nostalgia is most important to fans.

Why do you want to do something really far from what we've seen? The original show is what we're all here for. If you want to do something far out, dont use the name ReBoot. Start original. Dont ruin, maim, and twist something thats already so loved.

I'll be brief.

1. Finish "The Hunt".

2. Keep the same characters we know and love, and evolve from there.

Otherwise, it's just some original fiction (which might be good in it's own rights), not ReBoot.

Going forward and ignoring what made ReBoot a success in the first place will only alienate old fans with no guarantee of winning new ones. The reboot (pun intended) of the franchise will fail miserably and there'll be one group wondering why it tanked, while the other will be saying "told you so". In the end, everybody will lose.

Please please please take this into consideration. Reading the comments, everyone has its own opinion regarding which pitch is the best, where the franchise should go and which new characters to add. But through all of that, the same two ideas constantly come up: closure and continuity. These are the key to success.

I do not want anything from the origional Reboot (graphic wise)to change. Nor do I want characters from the origional ReBoot series to change or go away. I want the design to stay the same from the origional ReBoot, otherwise it will be something completely different and you might as well give the show a new name.

We all grew up with the characters and magnificent images and we want to re-connect with them again.

I want all of the characters to all be exactly the same and maybe introduce one or two new characters. I want to see how much they have grown and see their new upcoming challanges.

I think some things from the last series need to be established which werent established very well. I would like to see a little more romance in the series thsi time (when they arent fighting). I think that way you will attract different audiences and different age groups.

I have always loved the storyline between Matrix and AndrAIa and would love to see that expanded on a lot more. Maybe even see them have a child.
I have read some fantastic ReBoot fan fiction that I think would make some wonderful episodes. They are mainly on:

Thank you for reading :)

This is something that needs to be said to all five writing teams.

The directions most of you are going are the complete WRONG directions. As you'll see if you read any of the feedback on the story pitch pages (which are a pain to navigate by the way; why must everything be a Flash site?), ReBoot's fans are not interested in a complete overhaul of the concept that has little, if ANYTHING, to do with the original series.

Aliens? Dot having a kid with Megabyte? Mainframers interacting with the real world? What the hell. Just about all of these pitches sound like bad fanfiction, and if a new "ReBoot" (I use the name loosely in this case) were to be created from any of them without some HEAVY reworking, I would be disappointed beyond words.

I know it isn't feasible to continue the old ReBoot after five years, but at the very least, PLEASE rethink what you guys are doing and give us something in the VEIN of the original.

Even if the old ReBoot isn't directly continued, it should at least be used as a guideline for the new series. The ReBoot: Arrival team is the only one that seems to be thinking clearly on this; they have a story that could actually work in the original series and they're making changes in accordance with fan feedback so that it actually CAN work. The rest of these pitches aren't so promising, I'm sorry to say.

My vote rests solidly with Arrival, and I hope those folks do us proud.

Thanks Kieran. This is the writer of Arrival. I've just made a post regarding our errors and how we're handling them. It's called "Arrival: Mistakes We Made."

I'd put the link in but that doesn't seem to be working here.

Hi Everybody,

You've got questions, I've got answers (hopefully), check it out and pass it on.

Reboot 2.0 FAQ

By the Writer of Reboot 2.0

Wow, just wow! I can’t believe all the feedback we’ve been getting, and quality feedback too, this whole Heroes 2 Zeros thing just might work after all…
We thought the best way to start addressing all your questions is with a trusty FAQ, so without further ado here is the “Reboot 2.0” FAQ (version 1.0).

Are you going resolve the cliffhanger? I demand closure!
Oh yeah! Unresolved cliffhangers suck, great shows deserve great endings (Veronica Mars is the one that kills me) and we came up with a concept that would allow us to do that and still push the story forward. We’re so dedicated to the concept of cliffhanger resolution in fact, that the very last shot of the very last episode of Reboot will be the very first shot of Reboot 2.0!
That’s right! I said it! I mean it!
So just in case you weren’t paying attention I’ll say it again, Reboot 2.0 is direct continuation of Reboot!
The resolution will be televised…
…as long as Reboot 2.0 gets the most votes.

Where the bleep is (insert favorite character here)?
Good question, we could tell you but then Control, Alt and Delete would have to kill you. Seriously, it’s hard to put a pitch out there in a forum like this and not have it turn into one giant spoiler-fest. We want to give you enough so that you’re interested enough that we can go and make the movie, but if we give away the ending then no one would want to watch it, so we’ve been holding back a bit, but rest assured all of your favorite characters make an appearance.

Hey, Reboot had a wicked sense of humor! Why don’t you have a wicked sense of humor? Also they were awesome with working in computer jargon, why aren’t you awesome?
One of the things we all loved about Reboot was it subversive nature and sardonic wit and we definitely plan on keeping that in the mix. For example, Serenity’s slogan is “Serenity Now”. One scene we were thinking of has Serenity’s goon squad, known as the DRM, busting up Bob’s favorite hangout, “the one down by Pier II” for illegal file sharing and Control, Alt and Delete, well if you’re not familiar with that reference then I want to meet your IT guy.

What the bleep is up with Bob!

Yeah, that’s turning out worse than nipples on the Bat Suit, we hear you, we’re on it, and while you’re at it why don’t you get off your ass and do something about it, this is supposed to be collaborative endeavor after all…

More to come soon, I promise.

Reboot 2.0 Writer.

You guys, right now, are coming off as arrogant sons of bitches. Your idea is the weakest out of all of them. Your plot sounds like avant garde mishmash, and your art either looks like crappy sketches made quickly in Paint or like bad postcyberpunk tribal designs- that do NOT belong in ReBoot. Please, try and stick closer to the original ideas. I know you can't and don't want to just add on to what was made, that's not practical or really a show of artistic and writing quality, but seriously. Your worlds were good, art- wise, but please, this is not ReBoot on Acid, this is ReBoot Renewed.

While the artist may be an accomplished graphic designer, it's clear he has no idea how to do concept work. While I don't care for your idea at all, I think your artwork is what murdering you. You don't want expressionistic art for animation concepts, at all. Who thought that was a good idea? If I was handed these concepts on a job, I'd be looking around for the hidden cameras.

I'd really like to like your guy's pitch, but while the story is interesting, the artwork seems to be beta. Sorry if that's a little harsh, but The Last User verges on abstract television, which'd be cool, if I could follow the images.

Love your artistic take on Enzo and Mouse though.

However, instead of just bitching about it, I'll add my take once I find a scanner hooked up to a computer. You lot have an insane amount of potential to elevate this series visually.

edit: Actually, when I look at the ideas y'all have, Max Headroom keeps popping up in my head... TLU seems very much like it in terms of trippy visuals and a dystopic setting.

Finish the Hunt
Move the character to a new location
then go to a new storyline, following a different system and people

I know this storyline hasn't got a chance as being ReBoot-related, but it seems pretty low for "ReBoot 2.0" to post their info here as spam...even if they're story is tons better as ReBoot

i don't think that the reboot story should continue from the climax of the last movie without the original characters. The audience should see the hunt that Megabyte was talking about.

I really love the art style you guys began with, but I don't know how that would work in animation. It would make a killer graphic novel though.

There are many ways to do something impressive. And everything I saw really impressed me...But in a very negative way. Some of the ideas aren't that bad, but they don't quite fit together and some are just too silly (or , no offense, lame) to be taken seriously.
The biggest flaw is the designs. It's the worst set of designs altogether, and I didn't liked the one from Reboot 2.0, but this one is the worst of them all. Talking about the way you guys represent it and the design itself.
The environments are confusing, but not in a way that you can really use the place. It's the kinda of place you arrive and "WTF am I?"
Just read the comments

[rise and fall of one of the greatest pitches to ever hit an exec's desk.]

Did they just give up? They're still going to try and revise their pitch, right? I feel bad for the artist. Very creative...it just belongs in a modern art museum, not on a kids' show/comic pitch.
