So the recent Dark Horse post got me thinking...
Is anyone published in any other form (book or short stories), and if so, what publishers?

I got a history paper on the Inquisition published years and years ago. It made a small run in a periodical. I never continued in that vein although they wanted more submissions from me. My priorities were elsewhere at the time.

I have had poetry and fiction published in lit journals, one book of poetry out in 2006 with Signature Editions in Winnipeg, and a new book coming out this fall with Anvil Press (and am getting excited, as the edits are almost done - yay!).

Yes and no: I had three special "Avatars" comics published in The Webcomic Hurricane Relief Telethon Book from Blank Label Comics back in 2005, as part of a benefit to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Not exactly "professional", but I got to play a small part in an effort that raised over $28,000 for people who really needed it, which is something.

I used to write for my school yearbook so yes... I guess I have had several articles and whatnot published. Outside of that, no. I don't believe so. Not that I know of at least. :P

Ruroshen, that's excellent! Bravo to you for your efforts. I have been writing articles for a monthly seniors magazine since March and intend to continue for as long as they'll have me.

Under various pen names covering most genres, I've published dozens of short stories in various magazines and anthologies, but most of the publications would be considered small press. (In Canada, the notable venues are Neo-opsis and Red Deer Press.) My short comics have appeared in places like Judge Dredd Megazine and Trailer Park of Terror. I co-authored a novel that was published in hardcover by Five Star Publishing (an imprint of Macmillan Library Reference), but they only distribute to U.S. libraries, so it didn't exactly make me famous, despite good reviews. Lately I've been busy writing the official companion guides to the TV show Supernatural and I have articles in every issue of the official Supernatural magazine, both published by Titan Books.

I had an article in Intercom: The Magazine of the Society for Technical Communication. Dull contents, but glossy paper! :-)

With regards to pen names: I know people who hate horror, for example, but they like mystery. If I wrote a popular mystery novel, then switched to horror, I’d lose readers like them, and then if my third book switched again to fantasy, I’d probably lose more readers. But I figured if I differentiated my output with pen names, fans of particular genres would know what they were getting into.

Smart idea GW... and what's this about Titan publishing books and what can't he do? lol! You must be talking about a different Titan. :P I wish I could wrack up some accolades like so many writers here have, which I was actually surprised to realize. I mean Beth has effect credits to give her a mini-movie credits real, you guys are published writers for various journals and I was published in the yearbook back in high school. You all put me to shame. I guess I'm going to have to try to break into the journalism business so I can at least try to compete. :P

Grrr... see... this is why our comments should have a edit button... gah... *I mean, Beth has enough credits to give her a mini-movie credits reel.*

You mean you don't own this publishing company, Titan? http://www.titanbooks.com/home/ca And here I was set to hit you up for more work.

I was just published in Mysterious Visions Anthology #8 at Dimestore Productions. If you are looking to improve your craft at any level, I really do recommend them - they put on an annual Small Press Idol which awards varying levels of publication to semi-finalists and finalists (I was semi-finalist). But I did have a few frustrations along the way, so I think its a good place to learn, but not a place I'd start a career.
