So hey, remember my Starsong pitch?

I haven't worked on it in a while and, to be honest, I'm probably not going to work on it anymore until I can figure out a way to consolidate it as a comic. It was originally written as a movie short, intended to be about twenty minutes, so while the story was short, it made it just slightly too long to be told in 22 pages. This means I'll have to split up the story, but it also means I get the opportunity to make it longer and more interesting.

Of course, this begs the question: if I could tell it succinctly and completely before, isn't anything I add now just filler and superfluous? Well, yes and no. Depends how you look at it. If the story is about a moral at the end, then yes, anything you add is extra. However, if the story is more about the journey (read: like anything Neil Gaiman has written), then no, the extra stuff would actually be better, as long as it's not overdone (and, granted, you change the end to suit it better too).

Anyway! Most of this pitch was based around music. The origin of the story goes like this: I heard the first 10 or so seconds of a song by Beck ("Little One") and was inspired to write a fantastic, modern-day fairy tale. My friend read the script, loved it, and wrote a song to accompany it. I heard the song, loved it, and re-wrote the script to accommodate the song.

I present now to you the song in question by my good friend Eric Hogg: http://www.myspace.com/musicbyerichoggfortomartin

The account only contains that one song and is intended for you guys to listen. This is the only music made for the project so far. For more of Eric Hogg's stuff, check out this link: http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?AID=361945&T=211051

(There's a couple of extra of his accouns in the bottom left menu) He has a couple of albums for sale which is his acoustic stuff, all of which is fantastic.

I remember Starsong, Tom. It wasn't my favorite of your pitches (Gunstar Blastlands is), but it was definitely a good one. I will take a listen to your friend's song when I get a chance. That's pretty cool to actually have someone write a song for your story!
