After writing my first blog, I decided to make the villain in my first pitch be an evil alien. I'm going to go for a humanoid alien like those typically found in Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, etc. So my question for the Z2H masses is which species of aliens (from the "star" franchises) doyou find the most villainous and why? Thanks!

Hmmm... It think I would have to say the Gahuld (Stargate baddies however they are spelled) because they can look like people and take over your body so they could naturally be anyone. For star wars, I'd have to say the sith because they are driven on anger, treacherous by nature, and very violent. For star trek, of course, I would have to say the Borg because they are super powerful, adaptive, and their can take you over and turn you into one of them. For Farscape, I think I would say that Scorpius is the most villainous because he's always scheming and you never truly know who's side he's on or what his angle is. That and he's dangerous and powerful. BSG, the cylons because they are the only badguys and the ones that look like humans can infiltrate the human population without them realizing it. Firefly, the reavers because they are cannibals and they are animalistic and they will hunt you down and kill you unless you kill them first. I miss any ones? :P

Aliens that look like humans and can take over our bodies are scary. Check. Thanks for the feedback.

I agree about the Goa'uld being pretty villainous. Not just the whole body snatching thing, but they'd torture someone to death only to resurrect them do it again. I mean that's worse than Bush (though I'm sure he'd do it if he had the technology). Star Wars didn't really have an species of aliens that were evil, it was more realistic with different members of the races choosing their own side. Personally, I didn't even think the Sith were that bad. It was really more of the Jedi's complete and utter stupidity that allowed the Sith to do anything anyway (I mean the guy living up stairs is the lord of all evil and they can't sense that, come on). In Star Trek I think the most villainous species were those brains that maybe everyone fight in the arena (yes, I'm gonna go old school Star Trek). I mean the Borg are evil, but not really villainous since a few of the episodes and Star Trek: First Contact showed that it was possible to be around them while they were doing other things and they wouldn't even notice you if you didn't interfere with them. That's pretty lame. The brain things though forced you fight people, and some of the arena competitors were friends that's pretty though to beat. Farscape, which is by far one of my favorite series of all time, had the Scarrans which were pretty nasty. A giant war machine which super solider members is not something I'd like to have to face.

More good input--thanks, Asclepius. I'll have to track down that old Trek episode. Those brain things sound like more trouble than Tribbles!

I guess I'd go with the organ-stealing patchwork aliens from Voyager--I always thought that was both a cool idea and extremely horrifying. I do have a question, though--why limit yourself to humanoid aliens in a comic? I mean, you can get as outrageous as you want. On the other hand, if you see your project possibly being converted to other media, I can understand why you'd want to come up with something that wouldn't wreck the budget.

Daleks are very creepy and the patchwork aliens could induce nightmares. For the humanoids line of thought, I guess I was thinking along the lines of seeing the story on screen at some point, but maybe I should be thinking of the best way to truly benefit from the comic medium.

BEsides these days they could do you a fairly budgeted but still looks decent CG alien. In a couple of years, well technology development is expidential. You could have some really badass non humanoids that are like attack dogs for your humanoid villians then if you get picked up for the screen you lose the attack dogs if they cost too much. Keep your options open.

What about "Aliens" from the alien franchise. They took on characteristics of what ever species they used as host, had acid for blood, were pretty ruthless, and grew expidentially in numbers. If something like that was your attack dog...

Great idea, Mekikas. I will definitely do the attack dog thing.

Hahaha! I knew I liked your taste Asclepius! Farscape had one of the best casts out there and was a very weird but equally awesome series. I love that show! The popular references and the aliens' lack of understanding of them was a nice touch, too!
