One of the better pitches, just remember to not drift too far away from what made Reboot, Reboot in the first place. No Monster Bobs, and include Matrix and Andrea too. Make sure Old Mainframe looks like Old Mainframe too.

I like these ideas...but some seem to distant...if it wasn't reboot it'd work....I think I might gather some people and work on our own pitch

I think this is my favorite pitch out of the five - but that's not to say it's devoid of some major missteps in translating the series into a new cannon for the big screen.
The story is solid - and I can practically invision it being layed over the series and still working; which is a good sign that you guys have hit the nail on the head. All five pitches lack any mention of 'game cubes' or their existance - which is slightly distressing considering the title of the franchise is derived from 'ReBooting' in the games. The games themselves are practically characters in their own right.
The biggest issue I have is with the characters. You guys have nailed Enzo - but Bob, and to a lesser extent Dot seem woefully misplaced.
I commented on this in the reader - but I'll reiterate here. I'm well aware this is a new 'verse' of reboot; but to recreate the franchise for a film will take more then just slapping nametags on characters and using the name 'ReBoot'. There has to be some semblence of the structure and personality that we all fell in love with in the first place.
Bob was never a reluctant superhero. He thrived on the attention and glory he was getting from protecting the system. There was a pride about it - he was the big man on campus in an otherwise small and humble town. There was a great allure to that for him - though he was never malicious or mean spirited about it.
I could see Bob being run down; jumping from the big city to the country town is sure to lose a lot of it's luster. Perhaps make Bob a semblence of his series persona - but just make him jaded. He fights in games and polices the system tirelessly, there's only so long the applause of a select number of Binomes will satisfy that amount of effort.
I'm also not a fan of his massive Hellboy-esqueness. It works for Hellboy, but not at all Bob. Putting aside my own preconcived notions of what ReBoot is and isn't - the average joe who doesn't recall the series will likely scoff and ridicule a massively built, gorrilla-esque man named 'Bob'.
Also your target for Dot seems way off as well. The concept art is nice - though I think she skews a bit too young (a dynamic relationship between Bob and Dot is a nice plot device; but I can't see these two together with these designs), but my real issue is with the personality you guys have planned for her.
Dot isn't an average girl - she's the 90's working woman. For all intensive purposes, she's a single mother caring for her brother; she's organized, she's intelligent, she's always two steps ahead and NEVER one step behind. She leads the way without giving it another thought - she's not just another girl. I can see a shell of the dot we all know living in this role. She could even own and work in her dinner having to deal with the ominous issues that wait for them both.
I honestly think this pitch has the most potential. The universe could be fleshed out some - I hope most of the concept art for Mainframe itself doesn't skew too 'old rundown towny', since the city stands for the new technological dawn.
Good luck guys! Keeps in touch with us with your thoughts and responses! I know a few other people behind the pitch are really reaching out to the community for ideas...it'd be nice if we heard from you guys as well!

Of all the pitches so far, I think you guys have the storyline I like the best. I'm a huge fan of stories involving change from a happier time to a grittier, darker situation. As much as I've seen some people complaining, I personally like the allegories to nazism that this seems to draw. I love the idea of perhaps starting Bob off as a reluctant enforcer of these changes. But in the end, we all want our hero redeemed. We want to see him unhappy with the position he's in, until that moment where he finally breaks and goes renegade.
My biggest concern is with the art direction. The characters don't feel at all like their previous counterparts. They're dark, which I really like, but they're perhaps a bit too colorless. Bob is Bob in name (and hopefully personality) only.
He looks like a hulking brute, which might fit with some of his initial themes, but definitely has no correspondence to what he was before. Dot is much the same, looking far to young and forlorn. Despite some of the weepiness they gave her near the end of the third season, she's the show's strongest female character and I feel should reflect that.
Also, there's no color to your art so far. While I really want there to be a more adult (i.e. dark, grim) feel to the show as there was in the third season, there still needs to be *some* color. Maybe it's just that they're initial sketches, but everything you've shown seems to be done in shades of brown. Where are the blues, greens and reds and whites that dominated the color scheme of the previous show?

I personally would like to see a continuation first of where the original series left off. If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Resolve the issue of The Hunt first, then talk about moving forward.
As it stands, any of this is like sweeping Gavin Blair's and others' brainchild under the carpet like a nasty past instead of giving the fans of what was something great the closure we deserve. Let us see "The End" in the last story. If you please, build from there, but finish what was started.
PS: Has anyone spoken to Gavin Blair about the original story he'd wanted to continue? It sounded like he had some fantastic ideas, in fact, he had the whole story thought up, I'm more than certain. He'd spoken to few fans directly about this, but it's out there.

I think this is probably the best idea out there.
But I have to agree with all the comments given above. Bob and Dot aren't quite right, and Matrix and AndrAIa are omitted. (Not to mention my personal faves of Hack and Slash. And then there's whatever happened to Phong and even the C-list binomes like Cecil)
Here's a thought though - work in Mike the TV as a second-string character, only use him as a reporter for the new regime. If they gave him a podium he'd easily rise to the challenge with propagandish zest.
And the Binome designs are iconic - I wouldn't mess with them too much, even IF this is a redesign. The presence of Serenity is an oppurtunity though - suppose that this "perfect" operating system had a similar effect on the reformatted populace as a virus has on his Viral Binomes. Use 'infected' binomes in the regime - as it was hinted at in Season 4 many of the ex-virals missed the power trip after all and would probably sign up with a Serenity regime.
And the whole Megabyte story is still unresolved as well, on that note. Though you could always turn it on its head by making HIM the secret leader of the resistance against Serenity. With his REAL aim being to, as usual, get the Principle Office so he can then control Serenity to his whims.
I'd also avoid using the real world/real User at any cost. ReBoot is supposed to be detached from the real world, with the only link being in the games.

Review of all pitches as well feedback on how to make them better. I have also taken liberties to mix and match which ones have good stuff to make a really really great show. I really do enjoy the story of Reboot 2.0 but your artstyle is horrondeous.. hopefully you guys can remake it.

This one is definitely my top pick - the story has the most potential and you're the only team that seems to have any clue of how to use Enzo in the story. I would like to see what's up with AdnrAIa and a little more faithful rendition of Bob especially, but right now you're head and shoulders above the pack.
I'd also love to see you register and start posting over at the Java Hut - I think it would really help you in winning over more supporters.

Okay, see here's my problem with 2.0
I like the idea of an upgrade - it makes sense. However, never once prior to this has an upgrade been mentioned to have such devestating effects that change everything.
You want to go about doing this idea, that's cool - it makes sense logicistically. The only thing you need to do first is have a couple of episodes (or first movie as it were) finish off the previous arch, while having reports from the rest of the net that upgrades are occuring (which could work in that the guardians can't come to the aid of Mainframe in that they're dealing with other systems).
Once you finish off the arch, in which ever way you choose, then move forward. Also, some sprites should be unaffected (namely, the renegades, hackers, and surf bot (bod? can't remember)) as to show that there is some reason to still call the show ReBoot. Their goal should be to help revert the system back to the old operatiing system, if even to ultimatley be unsuccessful. And have all the others forget their past life. Slowly the team get members from the old group back one-by-one - some unwilling to revert. I mean, how many people ditched vista and moved backed to XP?

I think most, if not all, fans agree this has the best plot idea. It just really needs help in the character department. You have a great artist, just not a good design for Bob and Dot. And what of the other characters like Phong, Hack, Slash, Matrix, or AndrAIa? Also: http://www.rbcorner.com/cgi-bi...185491562/
I think the members of this pitch's team should take a look into this thread. It might help them as it is helping Arrival's.

the reason i liek reboot is becouse it has great chacters who i know and care about and it just doens;t work anymore if you twist them to bits just to make it soemthing new i belive i soem some up my feeling on the matter with 2 words any real mainframe fan will understand ,Beast Machines.

Hey guys,
You have a really strong pitch idea here. From looking around at all the art and reading all the synopsis blurbs, I agree with everything but the character visions. I know that you've probably heard this over and over again, but the idea of downgrading the characters to make them younger/revert them back to their original format is really unappealing. That really saps the power of the characters away, and if you're planning on using the main cast, you need to keep the heart and soul of the character in there somewhere, even if the bodies have to change. (No one has mentioned it at all, but I'm beginging to assume the rights to the original characher designs were not obtained, hence the massive overhauls.)Also, I would suggest that the artists re-read what the writers have envisioned for the characters and produce some newer art concepts. To describe Bob as the model citizen, but portray him as this rough looking burly character, and to describe Dot as normal and grounded, and dress her eccentrically, does not make sense next to your visions of the characters. If you can't get a clear vision, the audience can't get a clear vision. I'm asking genuinely for you not to get caught up in the concept of design for the sake of being 'cool', and to design for a reason and with a purpose. Enzo seems to be the only character that is really solid and well thought out, and I'm hoping that if your story wins, he'll be the central character, because right now, he seems to be the closest to the ReBoot I remember.
Your world concepts (especially your world concepts. This is the most stunning part of your pitch!), new villians, and script are all well thought out though, and I'd love to see more along those lines.
Best of luck.

I heard Jym Magon, the producer of TaleSpin (the most underrated American cartoon ever, IMO) say that when he was being pitched and pitching ideas, nothing clicked until he saw concept art of Kit Cloudkicker on his airfoil. From that image, he could see in his mind an entire universe unfolding. That Enzo image was the only thing I saw or read on Z2H that gave me that feeling.
I beg you, Guys - get on Java Hut, Edge of Beyond, even more actively right here - and really start *interacting* with the fans more. Arrival has a huge advantage because the creators are actively engaging the audience, and I really want you Guys to be in there with a chance - you have the best vision and the best concept.

I do like this pitch, but I do have some questions about the plot. Are you going to use this as a way to cover, in a possible prologue, the closing of The Hunt story arc, or are you going to act as if it never happened? And what about including games as a small threat that have always been in the series, but became less of a problem as there were larger fish to fry?
Are you also going to include Matrix and Andrealea, along with other important characters, or are you going to leave them out too? I also don't really like the character designs at all. It would be better with the original designs.

The reasons why fans wanted Reboot back was because of the characters. I know you want to gain a new audience, but you seem to be forgetting about the old fan base. The old fans of reboot are the ones who got this show back and want it to continue, however (I know you are tired of hearing this) but leaving characters like Andraia, Matrix, Phong, Ray, and Mouse is suicidal. These guys are central to the story. You also depicted Bob and Dot wrong, which is a major problem. Like Nolaa said the downgrading is a bad idea. Like Guardian Enzo said you need to check Java the hut out; most of the fans want to know what is happening to Andraia and Matrix and the original cast. I grew up with Reboot but then grew a part from it. I was reintroduced to it by Season 3, and even though it was a big gap I could tell immediately what it was because of the characters. My main problem with the pitch is mainly the characters, which is one of the reasons why Arrival has such an advantage. In fact only Arrival stays close to the characters, and that is what the major attraction is. By taking the original characters out you are taking the heart of the story and you will loose the old fan base. Please Please look at fansites you will see why taking Andraia and Matrix out will be a huge problem and what about Phong! The reason why season 4 failed was because the characters were botched up. This shows main attraction is the characters, without them we are back to square one. Please comment to this post so we can see what you think of our wishes.

I'll be brief.
1. Finish "The Hunt".
2. Keep the same characters we know and love, and evolve from there.
Otherwise, it's just some original fiction (which might be good in it's own rights), not ReBoot.
Going forward and ignoring what made ReBoot a success in the first place will only alienate old fans with no guarantee of winning new ones. The reboot (pun intended) of the franchise will fail miserably and there'll be one group wondering why it tanked, while the other will be saying "told you so". In the end, everybody will lose.
Please please please take this into consideration. Reading the comments, everyone has its own opinion regarding which pitch is the best, where the franchise should go and which new characters to add. But through all of that, the same two ideas constantly come up: closure and continuity. These are the key to success.

By far, you guys have the best pitch, best artwork, and best script. I am not a fan of the new character designs though. Actually, I really hate the Dot and Bob designs. Enzo's scarf design is awesome, though.
But one thing I couldn't help thinking while I was reading everything is where is Fong?! The white tower has apparently replaced the principals office, which we know is inhabited by Fong. My question is what happened to him? There are so many possibilities!!
Personally, I hope you somehow make Fong the bad guy in the end. The twist from nice old man to corrupted source is just too impossible for someone to pass up!
You guys gotta e-mail me back and tell me that you have acts of awesome-ness in the works concerning Fong!

I did forget to mention one thing, and that would be to try to avoid getting the characters personalities askewed. This has already happened apparently, as Enzo would not be a vandal as you make him out to be. Enzo is just a good natured, hyper- curious kid that would most likely only get in trouble because of his curious nature. And don't get me started on the way you messed with Dot. Dot is in no way a regular girl, she is a headstrong, inteligent female sprite who is always planning ahead. She is also a perfectionist, witch is both a strenth and a weakness in and of itself, making her a very dynamic character. And really, you ar not getting any of the original characters personalities right at all, including Bob's. As I said before, I like the concept, but the characters are not dynamic and are not themselves in your pitch. I beseech you, please make changes to the characters personaities and keep them as they were in the original Reboot. Thank you for your time

Good post, but I have to disagree on Enzo - I could easily see him taking this turn. Dot isn't the only Matrix that's headstrong - Enzo hates being told what he can't do. Living under a tyrannical OS, I could definitely see him becoming a "freedom fighter" - not a vandal as I see him described - and causing trouble for a good cause as he sees it.

Reboot 2.0 is my favourite of the 5 proposals, but as everyone pretty much agrees there are a few things a bit off that need adjusting if you want to keep the original fans onboard:
I'll start by first saying I don't mind that certain characters haven't been shown/mentioned yet: Matrix, Andraia, Mouse, Surfer, the Crimson Binome, etc. These characters can be referenced and introduced down the line, that's fine. For now we should be focusing on the core of ReBoot, which was always Bob, Dot and Enzo against their foe.
I'll also state that I don't mind that changes will be made. This is a relaunch, not a continuation. Some fans are cringing at the idea of Dot not being exactly the same Dot, for example, but I get it. As long as things aren't so completely different that only the names remain, you're on the right track.
CHARACTER RENDERINGS:
I can appreciate the desire to make characters more human-looking, but don't throw the 'in a computer' idea out the window. Some abstraction is necessary, otherwise what's the point of relaunching?
BOB:
Bob is way off. The description paints him as the 'model citizen', almost a puppet of Uncle Bill's, a member of the Old Guard manipulated into vouching for the New Way. Yet the character sketches make him look like a rogue, an outlaw. This conflicts with the idea that he's just realizing the dark side of Serenity (the threat to Dot and Enzo). If he's to start as a representative, a convert, of Serenity and Uncle Bill, he has to wear the Serenity uniform, look respectable, and have some reference to his former role as Guardian.
DOT:
As I wrote in the reviews her look comes off too young for the description. I liked Dot as the independent woman of the original series, but I'm willing to see her grow into that role here. However, she can't be a 'regular girl' if the series metaphor is supposed to work: regular folks go along with the status quo, they don't question things. She has to be an individual from the start, at least to a degree. Or the dark side of Serenity has to occur to her slowly (influence from her younger brother).
ENZO:
Bang on, except for the 'he's just a kid' stuff. He's rebelling, so he knows what's going on and he doesn't like it. Love the idea of Tracers, interactive graffiti, and resisting Serenity in the only way he can (he's not Matrix, he's not a soldier). Go with the scarf design, not the gas mask.
MAINFRAME:
I love the idea of a divided city, as long as Old Frame and Serenity stand in stark contrast. Not just the look of the buildings, but the people who live there, the technology they use, etc.
Old Frame should seem part post-apocalyptic (the instability and corruption from Megabyte's regime) and part crowded Tent City (refugees fleeing Serenity). However, rendering Mainframe as a sphere doesn't sit right with this fan; a disk, even the suggestion of a hemisphere, would be better. Get too far from the 'in a computer' references and it won't work.
GAME CUBES:
If Serenity is mid-install I guess the User can't play any games, but I hope there's *something* similar to give us the cult references the original Game Cubes provided. Cubes were an essential part of the original series -- I don't think there were more than a few pre-Daemon episodes that went by without a cube drop -- so we need something similar.
METAPHOR:
This is my favourite part really. I'm a recent (sort of) switcher to Mac OS X, but anyone stuck upgrading to Windows Vista will get the idea. We live in an era of increasing control over what we're allowed to do with things we own: Digital Rights Management schemes, DVD region codes, copyrights extended indefinitely, patents issued for things like math, lots of moaning about downloading music and such, forced upgrade cycles, etc. I hope this concept evolves to address things like Free and Open Source Software, Creative Commons/CopyLeft, etc (with Our Heroes on this side, of course).
I really like that the series takes place during the installation (take over) of Serenity, and that Our Heroes are now anti-heroes, fighting law and order instead of chaos and corruption.
**Please resist the urge to make Serenity seem Pure Evil under its glossy white coating! Bad things can be done with good intentions, that is the human condition!**

I do not want anything from the origional Reboot (graphic wise)to change. Nor do I want characters from the origional ReBoot series to change or go away. I want the design to stay the same from the origional ReBoot, otherwise it will be something completely different and you might as well give the show a new name.
We all grew up with the characters and magnificent images and we want to re-connect with them again.
I want all of the characters to all be exactly the same and maybe introduce one or two new characters. I want to see how much they have grown and see their new upcoming challanges.
I think some things from the last series need to be established which werent established very well. I would like to see a little more romance in the series thsi time (when they arent fighting). I think that way you will attract different audiences and different age groups.
I have always loved the storyline between Matrix and AndrAIa and would love to see that expanded on a lot more. Maybe even see them have a child.
I have read some fantastic ReBoot fan fiction that I think would make some wonderful episodes. They are mainly on:

Passionate18: This is a relaunch, not a continuation. It won't be the same; you need to accept that or you'll be even more disappointed. Characters will be different, the art style will be different, voice talent will be different, stories and backstories will be different.

Something 2.0 has going for it is that it seems to continue in the same timeline: Megabyte had his Hunt, Mainframe suffered, and the User got sick and tired of Windows 3.11 and upgraded to OS X. So in a way it's not a *complete* reinvention, though the characters will be written differently. I think fans of the original should get behind 2.0 if they want a Reboot that will even remotely resemble the original.
A complete continuation of the old series, same characters, same designs, *is*not*happening* so we should work with what we're given.

Question, in Beast Machines Megatron was hoisted up by cables and controlled the planet with his mind. Everything from bots to rooms, everything with a single thought. How will this be any different than what has already been done?
Thank you.

Stimulation: Haven't you seen Tron, read Lord of the Rings, played Metroid, or experienced any of the countless examples of 'prior art' where the enemy is controlled by a central authority? You asked this same question in the Arrival section and it's just as unwarranted here.
Besides which, so far there's no indication that Uncle Bill or Carnivore or the Keys are immobile body parts hung up in a chamber or set upon a pedestal.

This is something that needs to be said to all five writing teams.
The directions most of you are going are the complete WRONG directions. As you'll see if you read any of the feedback on the story pitch pages (which are a pain to navigate by the way; why must everything be a Flash site?), ReBoot's fans are not interested in a complete overhaul of the concept that has little, if ANYTHING, to do with the original series.
Aliens? Dot having a kid with Megabyte? Mainframers interacting with the real world? What the hell. Just about all of these pitches sound like bad fanfiction, and if a new "ReBoot" (I use the name loosely in this case) were to be created from any of them without some HEAVY reworking, I would be disappointed beyond words.
I know it isn't feasible to continue the old ReBoot after five years, but at the very least, PLEASE rethink what you guys are doing and give us something in the VEIN of the original.
Even if the old ReBoot isn't directly continued, it should at least be used as a guideline for the new series. The ReBoot: Arrival team is the only one that seems to be thinking clearly on this; they have a story that could actually work in the original series and they're making changes in accordance with fan feedback so that it actually CAN work. The rest of these pitches aren't so promising, I'm sorry to say.
My vote rests solidly with Arrival, and I hope those folks do us proud.
I'll give the 2.0 team some credit in having the second-least-ridiculous pitch, but I think the idea needs a lot of work, and one wonders just exactly how the original cast survives the entire OS being replaced--considering they're all components of the operating system in the first place.

I actually like this concept. The basic premise is good. I like Bob originally working with the system as a guardian would. Some suggestions:
1. I think you do not need to hear it again, but lose the anime look and the gorilla Bob.
2. I would like to see Phong, Dot, and Bob working within the system. I would also like to see Matrix, Enzo, and AdrAIa trying to work with Serenity at first, but they leave because they see what is happening. It sets up a nice split between the characters and it also sets up a family split. After all, Matrix is the one that hates authority. Perhaps his mistrust of authority lets him see where Serenity is going before the others do. It could set up a little civil war as well.
3. Do away with he idea of Serenity making Dot younger. Bob and Dot are a main couple now. Making her a teen girl and him an adult is just plain wrong.
thats all for now. I am waiting for version 2 of all the pitches. Currently i support Arrival, but if you change your designs and some of the characterizations I might split my vote.

I have one more thing to ask you. Is there going to be any humor or spoofs of other media and culture, or is this going to be a straight up drama? Becuase part of the original appeal of Reboot was the balance between coedy and drama, at least for me, and if the balance is not there with your pitch, I feel that it will feel depressing if this gets chosen.

I posted this in pieces on the actual pitch page, but now I'll post it here in one piece:
(1) At some point, you'll need to explain what happened with Megabyte and 'The Hunt'. Otherwise it'd be like you're just making your own Reboot, instead of a continuation. This may be especially important, if Serenity.OS was installed by the user in order to cleanse the virus-ridden streets of Mainframe. You mention that it's in fact old, ruined sectors that are being destroyed - so clearly this must have been a result of Megabyte's hunt, yes? The possibility of such a thing happening seems likely - a virus takes over the system, and the User installs something in order to fix it. However, as with many high-end system upgrades in reality, they tend to become limiting to the functions of the computer. That's very realistic, and I commend you for devising such a plot. However, I still have much more to say...
(2) The deplorable ways of the Serenity.OS - they delete sectors, yes, but is that all? Or do they replace them, with clean, repaired places to reside? If so, perhaps rigging such places up with extensive security would be a special add-on for these new homes - this would in the very least give the rebels of Mainframe another thing to complain about. Another action of theirs that you may want to take into account is...
(3) Games. The very staple of the Reboot franchise. Naturally, Game Cubes will still fall from the sky, but will Serenity allow for anyone to challenge the user? Even if it means nullifying a sector? Will the lost sectors immediately be replaced by Serenity? What's more, will anyone be allowed to even flee the game sight? Or will they be forced to be nullified, merely to keep Mainframe in check? Either way, those things aside...
(4) About this upgrade to Mainframe that Serenity.OS brings - you mention that it changes the inhabitants of the system to what they first were - does this mean the deletion of Matrix and AndrAIa? I doubt such a thing would sit well with fans, but that's just me - the same goes for other beloved characters, such as Hack and Slash - it would just be a shame to lose them. Also, what of Mainframe's twin city? Serenity fixed the system, would the destroyed twin city be restored as well? If so, what of Welman Matrix, as well as the plethora of other sprites lost during the birth of Megabyte and Hex? Does everyone just forget about all of these past events?
(5) You mention Bob actually works FOR Serenity, thanks to Uncle Bill's propaganda. I could possibly understand that, but what about the fact that he deleted Megabyte (IF he did, that is)? And what about the total destruction of sectors that apparently happens so regularly? Bob has never once been pro-deletion, so why would he start now? Perhaps instead of deletion, Megabyte was actually cleansed, in accordance with his beliefs? That seems to be the only way Bob would approve of any of this. What of the other guardians, such as Turbo? Do they cut off ties with Mainframe, or do they attempt to break Bob free of his actions, or worse, is Serenity.OS spreading further than just Mainframe?
(6) 'Uncle Bill'? 'Carnivore'? I'm sure the personas you have planned for these characters will indeed be epic; however, their names leave much to be desired. For starters, they don't even sound remotely computer-like. Carnivore? Not in the least. If I were you, I'd go for something a little more computer based - perhaps something cryptic, like Greek lettering, such as Alpha and Beta. It couldn't hurt to test the names out, if even for a minute.
------ These are all just merely springboard ideas, for now. I have some more creative thoughts to give, but I'll post that later today, after I've properly composed them. If you like what I've said thus far, then keep an eye out.
Oh, and people here ARE right; you really should post more of your thoughts on our comments - some of the other pitch creators are already making notes of what they're changing for their second installments, while you're currently just leaving us in the dark...
Anyway, as I said, keep an eye out later today for my more creative thoughts on this pitch.

This is my favorite of the pitches. I have to say, the entire idea appeals to me, and I know I'd enjoy watching it. The only complaint I have is the character design.
The art itself is great, dont get me wrong. But the characters they're trying to represent just dont feel write.
Bob is just awkward. The costume in the white looks great, but he's not so much a Sys Admin as a walking landmass. THe best thing about Bob was how he would think and outwit to save the day, he was never a brawn character. You want to take him that way? Fine. But at least have the character look like a proportional being. His legs are too small for his upper half! and his robot..forearm looks a little ridculous. Just tone him down a bit, think more athletic than beefy. Maybe something along the lines of, say a football player, instead of a Comic Book character.
Dot looks too young. The only problem I have with her is that she looks Enzo's age.
Enzo is bloody brilliant. His scarfed persona looks absolutely awesome. There's almost no complain to be made about him. I say almost because I'm sure someone here will prove me wrong.
That being said, it looks beautiful. I hope all goes well.
I appreciate you trying to bring back one of the greatest cartoon series of my childhood, and I will be sure to watch, whatever the outcome.
But I do hope that your pitch gets taken. :)

This is meant to be a collaboration, so here are some (random) ideas:
SYSTEM KEYS:
• In Serenity they can merge right into the glossy white surfaces, stretch out directly from it instead of needing legs to walk, slide through walls, etc, but in Old Frame they need to sport legs or use vehicles to get around because the sectors haven't been converted.
• More General, less henchmen. Ctrl/Alt/Del command small armies of binomes with special abilities, but of course there will be plenty of times when Bob and Dot and Enzo get into direct confrontation with them.
• CTRL and his foot soldiers use a ring-shaped weapon. It's like a hollow white frisbee with a thin red edge that streaks through the air as it flies. It can home in on targets and navigate through the cluttered circuitry of Old Frame with ease. When the ring hits its target it wraps around them (arm, waist, neck, etc). At that point it beings to pacify the victim, making them highly suggestible and passive. Stronger targets (sprites, virals) can resist the paralysis, so the ring can also expand to coccoon them in a smooth semi-transparent glossy white pill.
• ALT and his soldiers use a "read/write" staff to alter and reprogram things. In Old Frame they can unlock any door, de/activate machinery, and open passages. They can take any simple object and change it into something else (in Old Frame they can convert old objects into Serenity objects). The staff is glossy white of course, but with a flat red patch at the business end.
• DEL is unique; *her* foot soldiers are weapons themselves -- nulls! (I'm thinking of Del as something like a cross between Hex and Kali, Hindu goddess of death.) She commands an army of nulls, whose only purpose is, you guessed it, deletion. Nulls are now more like Izzes from The Maxx comics/cartoon - wantonly destructive, always hungry, and seemingly endless in number. They're black and smudgey, slightly translucent, but not the completely featureless slugs of the original series. These guys have fangs. In Serenity they're kept out of sight, but in Old Frame they can move freely, scaring the crap out of everyone. Del is the 'big guns' of the trio, she's only brought in when some serious deletion needs to be done.

She commands an army of nulls, whose only purpose is, you guessed it, deletion.

UNCLE BILL:
• I'm starting to agree with whoever first suggested that Uncle Bill should resemble Phong. It makes sense, and what's scarier than when your greatest ally becomes the enemy?
• He absolutely has to come across as friendly, jovial, grandfatherly. He's the face of Serenity, and it has to be a face people will respond positively toward. What's more, it has to be his complete persona: there's no evil lurking under his visage, he's utterly convinced of Serenity's superiority as a solution to Mainframe's ills.
CARNIVORE:
• This is the flip side of Uncle Bill, and as such there should be some similarity in appearance. At least facially -- Carnivore is Big Brother here; he uses Bill's face when addressing the population. Setting up Carnie as the real power also opens up the possibility of converting Phong/Bill away from Serenity.
• I'm picturing Carnivore as a very physically imposing figure. I don't mean Gigabyte-sized, I mean he's the size of Megabyte's tower. He's the all-seeing all-knowing command.com of Serenity; so a bit like the giant flaming eye of LOTR, he's holed up at the top of the new Principle Office, overseeing everything.
• I'd reconsider the name, because it is very brutal/animal which seems to contradict the gleaming iPod towers of Serenity. Echelon is a related technology, and the name itself means upper level control.
ENZO and the TRACERS:
• By Tracers I'm really hoping you also mean traceurs -- parkour athletes!
• I've been thinking of characters that might be in Enzo's crew: Ajax (male) and Java (female). They're sprites from the Web so they like their wild freedom, but now they're stranded in Mainframe (Serenity controls the Ports).
• Go with the 90° scarf idea, definitely, but make it Doctor Whoian in length.
• See below for ideas on Enzo's spray cans.

OLD FRAME:
• Part post-apocalyptic tent city, part steam punk. Dangerous sectors, ruins, abandoned buildings, clunky technology. Binomes cram market streets under flickering 101000101110 track lights. It's the antithesis of Serenity.
• In contrast with Serenity, Old Frame is darker and uses more earthy tones, but brush away the dust and polish it a little and those earthy tones return to the old primaries of the original Mainframe.
• Old Frame is refuge for more than just freedom-loving binomes, it also has a thriving criminal element. Perhaps even virals and web creatures... And pirates. Citizens of Serenity truly fear Old Frame, seeing it as lawless and dangerous.
• Lost Angles is lost once more, and far from the advancing wall of Serenity.
SERENITY:
• Slick, glossy iPod city. 99% of everything is brilliant white; it's easy to see why binomes move here, the place looks perfect. Citizens here are, with rare exception, genuinely happy about their place in life.
• The Principle Office towers over everything, but the rest of Serenity soars into the sky too, dwarfing the tallest of Old Frame's original buildings. Multi-levelled boulevards, sliding sidewalks, impeccably manicured parks.
• Serenity isn't completely continuous; important parts of Mainframe, like the Ports, had to be seized and so stand alone. Narrow corridors defended by CTRL's soldiers ensure the safety of Serenity's population and goods as they travel to and from these enclaves. At the start of the season, only one complete sector has been converted, with adjacent sectors well on their way.

TECHNOLOGY:
• In Old Frame they use whatever they can salvage from the old OS; those old zip disk things, abandoned ABC cars, etc.
• In Serenity the zip disk thingy has been replaced with a small platform on a beam of white light. The light stretches all the way from the ground, like an extension of Serenity itself. Binomes and sprites ride on top, like it's a Segue.
• As mentioned in the System Keys post, Serenity's utility programs (including SysAdmins) can merge with the white structure and travel that way.
• (I'm thinking of OS X's Spotlight here): there are special binoculars that allow you to see right through Serenity's structure, to any distance, making it easy for SysAdmins/Keys/etc to keep tabs on everyone. These only work in Serenity.
• In Serenity there are info kiosks on every corner, where lawful citizens can ask a giant paperclip for help. If you've used MS Word in the last 10 years, you know who this paperclip is, and that he has to be annoyingly perky.
• Vid Windows in Serenity are curved transparent panes, swooshing quietly when they resize and open/close. In Old Frame they're the old Windows 3.11 style, prone to static bursts and distortions.
• Icons, the all-important symbol of Reboot. In Serenity they resemble whatever the Serenity logo is. You can't move about without one -- doors won't open, you can't ride those light beams, even Clippy ignores you -- they are the Mainframe equivalent of UNIX permissions. They're also a control mechanism of course; RFID chips in disguise.
• Enzo's spray cans (spam cans?) leave neon lines floating in the air, not just sprayed against walls. When his crew goes bounding across the roofs of Old Frame and down the boulevards of Serenity they leave zig-zagging trails of neon light behind them.

I like Echelon myself and I got where you were going with Uncle Bill, so I never had grief there.
That said, have to say that your story line is the most compelling, but Arrival seems to be far truer to the original show (in fact, it looks like their concept will be a perfect match). It's shame that you're competing cus I would love to see your concept worked with their devotion to the cannon. I love your story but the way you're handling it is just too far from Reboot for me. Despite what Rainmaker said, I don't want "new takes" on Reboot, I want Reboot.

Here's a minor character concept that just popped in my head:
BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH (minor baddie):
• BSOD was born in the fires of The Hunt, and now roams the darkened sectors of Old Frame, looking for the lost and stranded to drain the energy from. Few who see him coming ever escape. None who see the Blue light live to tell of it.
• BSOD is a boogey man, a reaper, a spook binomes tell their children to keep them from running off. All sorts of stories are told of Blue Screen. Some say he works with Serenity to make life in Old Frame that much more perilous. Some say he can drain the energy from virals and web creatures. Some say he used to be an overtalkative but friendly TV who saw too much death...

To Rek
NO. The point of the Relaunch was to get Reboot back on the Air! Also, are you not reading the comments? Have you not looked at rebootcorner? The old fan base will not give this up! Yes you want to bring in new fans, but you also want them to watch the beginning of the series and grow up to love it. The old fan base is basically made up with fans who grew up with Reboot from ages 5 till their 20's! And you are saying they have to get used to it? You are eliminating old fan support which will help in finding the winner. Rainmaker want's to get this right; that is why they want fan feedback. Fans are giving you the feedback: WE WANT THE ORIGINAL CHARACTERS! The name is still Reboot! So far you are giving the impression that you don't care about the fans. Arrival has the backing of rbcorner and has showed up in facebook! Please listen to the fans!

Aly - I'm an old fan; I've seen every episode of Reboot at least 3 times, and I started watching when it premiered on YTV, so don't tell me I don't care about the fans. Perhaps you meant fanboys...
Perhaps *you're* the one not reading comments -- 2.0 works with the continuity of the original series! the characters of 2.0 aren't irrecoverably different from the original! And we're giving feedback to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Also, yes, Rainmaker wants to get Reboot back on the air -- HOWEVER, from the start the concept was a RELAUNCH. Art styles would change, stories would be new, etc. If fans (rather than fanboys, who are a very small group overall) really want Reboot back on the air and to continue as a successful series, they'd accept that certain things are going to be different and help make them the best they can be.

I'am reading the comments... but you did not give off this information, nor are you extending your hand!Fans and fanboys are the same things; WE want Reboot back! But not this version! Have you been on facebook or rbcorner? I have read and reread these comments hoping to see some change. Reboot was brought back because fans have begged and pleaded with producers. They wanted the characters back! I was giving you my intake, and I got upset because you seem to be set in your ways. But the post you sent to me was not right, and so was the comment you sended to Passionate! I'am sorry if I am overacting but fans are begging you for the original characters! Your story could still work with the original characters. Oh and there are plenty of Fan girls! Have you not seen the Matrix shrines! After this my vote is resting on Arrival.

i think we need to at least sum up the cliffhanger with the original mainframers before moving onto the new storyline with new people
i wrote something here

about a possible transition we can use if we sum up the cliff hanger any way we want...but if they like the idea of them (the original mainframers) going to the supercomputer then they can use my idea linked above

Aly - I think you may be confused; I'm not officially part of this (or any) relaunch team, I'm just a fan trying to work within the parameters set by Rainmaker. If I'm not 'extending my hand' it's because I disagree that there's an issue needing to be resolved. We can make 2.0 the continuation fans and fanboys (definitely not the same things) want if we try, but I am vehemently opposed to a 'just more of the same' approach.
I don't know what rebootcorner is, and the Facebook group doesn't mean anything if they aren't posting here to help make a great series out of the material we've been given. You guys may desperately want the old Reboot to pick up where it left off, with nothing new, no deviations at all, but that's just not in the cards.
You may have got Rainmaker moving, and a big thank you for that, but they see it as a relaunch and not a straight up continuation.

Rek, thanks for being realistic.
I seriously doubt Rainmaker would want to repeat something that just didn't work out (if it had, none of this would be happening).
It's just hard to let go of the things we love.

All I am saying is I might go for it if the original characters are added and if the plot is like what Wiggy proposed. I don't want the same thing to happen over and over; I do want the original characters. If you think about it season 3 was different than season 1 because it was darker and edgier. The reason why Harry Potters season was successful was because of the characters and also while it had a pattern (Harry versus LV), it did not have that in every book. This is about brining back the series, so we have to think: will this bring longevity to the series? I would like to see new characters, heck I wouldn't mind if the hero is an adware or virus! I would just like the original cast to be around. An example of this was the Fanfic Viral Guardians.

rek's ideas are mostly great, and you might want to take notes.
I'd just like to know what's going on with this pitch... All I see is a lot of fans trying to help without any response. All I saw when I first came to this pitch was a post -still- reading "THIS will win!" "We have the best pitch!"
Part of my liking Arrival is seeing how they desire to quickly tweak things to general preference. They're very hard at work. I say follow their example and wrangle up an audience with feedback flow. :) If the right changes are made, you'll win back some votes too.
Where are the other blogs I thought I saw here? Where was the blog with that promises in writing(!) to resolve The Hunt ending scene. ;)

For 2.0, do you guys know how to end the cliffhanger and transition into a new storyline of Uncle Bill and such???
this is what i think
After defeating Megabyte, everyone is celebrating, matrix is saying things like "revenge has never felt so good"
>bob is like, "i wish there was some way he couldnt have been evil."...anyways, you get the point, they are celebrating
>
>FADES OUT
>
>they are all at Floating point, Matrix is lying in the grass with Andrea, Enzo is playing with Frisket, and Bob and Dot are sitting on a bench.
>Bob turns to Dot, put his arm on her shoulder and say, " Well, Megabyte is gone, Hex saved the Net, Damon is gone, no more troubles." As he leans in to kiss Dot, a vid window pops up in between them, its Phong, Bob, irritated, says, "what is it Phong??"
>
>Phong is in white (meaning that OS has already arrived on Mainframe and is inside the Princilpe office) and Phong says, "Bob, you must come here...i have someone you should meet"
>as it shows Uncle Bill
>
>FADES OUT, shows credits, end of Episode
>
>THAT WAY we have the cliffhanger DONE, and the story line is now onto something different.
>what do you think???

Yeah, I agree with WebVirus. Again, I have to apoligize if I got overdramatic. However you can't blame fans that get riled up when we are not given any feedback. One thing that really needs to be looked at is the fact that Reboot 2.0 team's minimum contact in this blog. Fans need to know if you have addressed the issues that we have and so forth; with Arrival I get the feeling that the are listening to us which soothes a lot of ruffled feathers. I thought rek was a member of the 2.0 team till he told me otherwise. I have to apologize to rek for my post; I was kind of confused and have no idea what is happening to this pitch. For me I need to know if the Reboot 2.0 team is adressing these issues:
Adding original characters
1) they slowly come back meaning Andraia and Matrix comes back
2) Andraia and Matrix work for Serenity for a little bit, creating a rift between Matrix and Bob which I would like to see. And later Andraia and Matrix leaving Serenity.
3)Matrix works for Serenity, while Andraia, Bob, Dot and Enzo work with the resistance; and Matrix comes to his senses.
The art:
1) If Dot reverts back to a girl, shouldn't boy revert back to his younger self?
2) Young anime Dot has to go. She is a strong young woman who has led a resistence in Season three. And give up gorilla Bob he looks like Hell Boy
3) Enzo: I am confused, is this the backup Enzo or Matrix? This is why The team of Reboot 2.0 needs to comment on this blog.
Serenity
1) I am a Comp Sci major and have had plenty experience with the Restart at school, and this does not make sense. You should only turn back the clock if and only if there is no other solution. Also, The turning back the clock has been done; That is why there are two Enzos. Everyone's PID keeps them safe. Also, in season 3 when lil Enzo appeared, he knew who Bob was and did not act in surprise to Dot's Age. Therefore the starting point would have been when she was a young woman. Serenity seems to be a security program; and generally they always ask for a restart. When that happens the computer will warn about backups. Since Lil Enzo appeared, we can asume that the computer is safely backed up and if their User was smart he would have created another backup after the restart. Therefore serenity won't have an effect on the degrading of sprites.
There is a lot of things that don't make sense about serenity. That is why I hope 2.0 team will comment on this post and soon.

There is a lot of things that don't make sense about serenity. That is why I hope 2.0 team will comment on this post and soon.

Aly - No problem, no worries.
I *really* like the idea of Matrix siding with Serenity. He was always gung-ho about peace and security from virals and such, so I can see him buying into Uncle Bill's vision for Mainframe.
I'm pretty sure the Enzo we've seen here is the backup copy. Depending on how long the Hunt lasted and how long Serenity's been around he should be a 10 or 11, but definitely not Matrix.
Remember, the Hunt took place right after the Backup so as far as the User knows he can't restore Mainframe to a stable configuration. It would make sense to take that opportunity to start fresh with a newer OS.

Yeah, I also picture Andraia being against Serenity. That way we can depart from seeing her as a clinging barbie. Reboot 2.0 is becoming my second favorite; If we can just hear from the team and see what they are doing... I would also like to see a design of Matrix and Andraia. For lil Enzo's love I had a story in the back of my mind about a user girl, but know I am reworking that idea. I was thinking of info data that is a shadow of a user, kinda of similar to the Nobody's in KH2. Not exactly a sprite, but not a user just something inbetween. I got that idea from the fact that when we are on the computer, we unwarily send data that contains info of us. And then I thought a bit more about it. See they look more like us, and have more free will, but they are'nt users. So Bob will only know that there is more than one user, but that is all he knows. However, I also see them as an extension of our energy... That is probably to scifi but what do you think? I know there is no way that this will be used but tell me if it is okay.

I'm really pleased that you guys have chosen to involve some of the classic characters from the past seasons. I think you should show what happended during the hunt and i think you should involve characters like MAtrix, Andraia and Mouse becuase they aren't getting as much spotlight in any of these stories as they should be.

i find you idea of the "info data"-character(s?) very interesting. It could be a type of "spirit" combine from residuals energies from all the "log" and personal data. We know that a part of us is in our own computer, and then this character could easily be made of this.
Not being the user, but being someone who know more than the sprites for some things, but less than them on other things. This "spirit" don't know about her/himself in real life, but know somes tricks to help them with their new problem.
It could be a type of "sprite" that form before them with all the "info data", then look like a young girl who don't know anything of this "world". Enzo then befriend her, and try to teach her. When the times comes, she will help them with the only things that she know, like how to configure something, or other things.

I suggest in your effort to further refine, you branch out and talk to the fans. I know the 'Arrival' team is chattin' it up at message boards and the like - and in the end it's winning them votes from people who are otherwise uneasy about handing their precious show over to new hands to explore uncharted territory.
It's a double edged sword - if you ingrain yourself too much with fans you can find yourself really giving in a bit TOO much to their demands (as a fan myself there are things that I want - but as a medium spectator, I recognize that certain things CAN'T happen); but if you don't connect with them outside this venue you might lose people and votes on your pitch which is incredibly solid and holds some weight. Especially with the Nazi parallels and even parallels to current American culture where we surrender our freedoms to simply feel safe.

As far as giving in to fans too much, Discloner, they just informed us all on the Java Hut to keep discussions over here. It's a lot more difficult for some apparently. Let's hope it doesn't alienate some people they just rallied.
Not being able to write responses is my personal beef with this site itself. [Aw, did you want to write a response? Too bad! Your comment is too short!] lol

Java Hut?
Complaining on other forums is kind of pointless. How can we address complaints that we can't see? If I think a pitch is really weak, I'm going to post it to the people working on the pitch, where they can find it. Taking the work off-site is kind of underhanded.

i like this.
just dont forget the little things that made reboot so great, like the little scenes that made fun of other geeky programs and dorky jokes that most people dont get.

I had a thought about the games in Reboot. How would mainframe handle an MMO (specifically, an MMORPG)? I mean, they'd be up against more then one user, and even if they kill "a" user, that user could just come back to life. And that's just one issue. (I'd post this as a blog if I knew how)

Underhanded? The other teams have been given an opportunity to speak to us on the Java Hut as well, but they never have once. There's a blog spot for each pitch there, and these people have been good enough to read our feedback and imagery over there. I hardly call us being underhanded for that, or any team who wishes to use a spot more functional than z2h until they get their bugs fixed. This is the official spot for them putting up our concept art and making blogs full of official information, but in 2.0's case, this site isn't even used for that! At least Arrival -looks- active and is.

Webvirus - Was this site announced to everyone? I know I didn't know about it until someone posted to say they were asked to stop doing it there. And for the sake of argument let's say the other teams knew about it and used it -- how is it fair to split the discussion across multiple fora? You force people to check everywhere or risk being out of the loop.

Yes, it was announced on the various forums here and comes up immediately in Google under ReBoot Java Hut. GlitchBob was hard at work letting people know on the various blogs here, because he wants every team to have a chance to more widely voice there opinions, as many fans go there and don't know what's happening. I myself recently found out about this whole thing solely thanks to him.

And I don't believe the word "force" is very accurate when it functions better and allows for direct-image upload. Quite frankly, I and everyone else on that forum has been coming back here to see what's going on regardless, so it looks like you're wrong, and it's a system that's been working. :)

Webvirus - Creating a second place for discussion forces people to go to both places to keep up with the discussion; how easy it is to upload pictures is completely irrelevant to that point. And not everyone here would know to Google for "Reboot Java Hut" in the first place. Not every Reboot fan is hardcore about it, you know.

I'm hoping that only fans serious about the show's return are voting... If they weren't...they wouldn't be voting, now would they?
[how easy it is to upload pictures is completely irrelevant to that point]
And the image mention is because the teams like to see posts of fanart suggestions. They did, after all, ask us to submit
