Welcome to The Gutter!

A regular podcast in a panel discussion format between myself and three four respected members of the Z2H community, discussing current events in Zedtown, hot blog topics, open and candid reviews and suggestions for up and coming Z2H writers.

This week we're discussing "November's Song" by Ruroshen, and offering up feedback and suggestions for improvement. Also on the docket are discussions of outside solicitation through Zeros 2 Heroes, representation, community initiatives, and as always our pitch suggestion of the week, giving the spotlight to community contributors who we feel deserve some additional attention.

This Week's panel:

Jennica "Yen" Harper: Recent CCCN winner for her pitch Abigail's Song and Toronto industry insider. I can personally attest that she is both insightful and charming, and a lovely counterpoint to the rest of our jaded cynicism.

Thomas "Domestibot" Vaccaro: Our resident review expert. Having been through the gauntlet personally with Tom, I can say that he's the consummate professional. He'll deconstruct your piece, show you all the seams, and then tell you how to put it back together. Better, stronger, faster.

Christian "Fetternity" Major: Our own Simon Cowell. Pulls no punches, and tells it like it is. If your pitch needs a rework, Chris will tell you. Which makes it all the more satisfying if he gives you praise, because you know that praise is well and truly earned.

Dylan "Crackwalker" Edwards: CCN winner, resident professional, and master of a wealth of real world experience in the industry. Dylan brings a lot to the table, and seems to have an inexhaustible grab bag of knowledge to draw from.

And of course, yours truly, Jason "Lord Maim" Cook: At various times I've been accused of eating kittens, shaking babies, plagiarizing the X-Files, and all manner of "Cabal" related chicanery. On the advice of my legal counsel, I will neither confirm nor deny these allegations. What I do know is what works. My track record speaks for itself... hopefully.

Christian eats babies! Another wild accusation brought to you by the "Latest Comments" news crawl and "The Gutter".

Just so we're clear, I have lots of ties to Toronto, but I'm now a full-on Vancouverite... 10 years this summer! And also just to be clear, I did indeed request to be called charming. Ask and ye shall receive! Maim, don't think I didn't notice that "Abigail's Song" crack. My pitch is actually called "November's War".

Remember, remember, Yen's War in November, the podcast stabbing and prod. I can think of no reason why Yen's pitch should ever be misconstruct.

Aiee! Mia Culpa. My subconscious mind delivers comedy even when I am half awake. I fear that the lurker at the threshold has stripped me of my will and made me his vessel to do his dark bidding.

Lady and gentlemen (and Yog-Sothoth, my dark lord and master), thank you. This kind of criticism is exactly what I was hoping for when I volunteered NS for your consideration...and as much as I love you guys for all the great things you said about it, it really is the criticism I'm taking to heart (in a good way). Updates to the pitch to come after I've listened to this a few more times...and sacrified a few kittens, apparently.

HAHAHA! I see what you are up to! An obvious ploy not to be casted as Ryan Seacrest! Hmmm... but don't worry, Lord Maim. You ain't out of the woods quite yet! :P

I'm pretty sure I'm in the rotataion, and would love for you guys to hammer away at Inside Out, but could you also add Gothamer to the list? Not at the same time or anything, but when my turn comes around again. Also, maybe Gothamer should come first of the two since it is the one currently moving up the charts! I'm looking forward to listening to the November's War critique over the weekend!

Another entertaining podcast from our esteemed panel, with the added bonus of Yen's input. I'm looking forward to Ruroshen's updates and the inevitable American Idol parody comic strip from Titan.

Yeargh, I can only imagine what Titan will make of the addition of eldrich gods to the panel. I'll have to check the list Greg, but I know you're either next or very shortly. If anyone else wants to volunteer or have a topic that they'd like us to talk about, feel free to drop us a line at the above email address with the subject line "The Gutter"
