NSI playWRITE Makes It Happen

The game industry has surpassed the film industry and is growing every month. The need for talented creatives has never been higher... but you need to know the ropes. If you’re a writer, NSI playWRITE gives you the inside track on this rapidly changing field.

If you are selected as a participant in the NSI playWRITE program, it is your ticket to a career in the game industry. In addition to the resulting fame and acclaim, you will get a chance to learn the tricks of the trade by working side by side with the designers who are making it happen.

To help make that happen, the prestigious National Screen Institute is putting their muscle behind NSI playWrite. Along with their industry partners, the NSI will underwrite the costs of the following:

  • Round trip airfare to Vancouver from anywhere in Canada
  • Accommodations and per diem during the course of the hands-on training
  • A paid apprenticeship with a leading Canadian game studio

But, more importantly, you will get a chance to get learn the craft of game writing in a uniquely intense program that is very much an ongoing audition for award-winning Canadian game studios. If you’ve been looking for a way to break into the game industry, you should apply now.

What Else You Need to Know

If you want to get into the game industry as a working creative, the NSI playWRITE program is a one-of-a-kind opportunity. Seriously: as with all things at Zeros 2 Heroes, we wish it had been around when we were breaking in. Heck, some people here are contemplating quitting so that they can become eligible (back to work, you).

But with great opportunity comes a certain amount of responsibility. The most important thing you should do right away is to ask yourself if you can commit to the time necessary for NSI playWRITE success.

This means more than just physically being available for the boot camp and possible internship: it means dedicating time during April to build support for your application. It also means making time available during your Independent Design phase to post updates on your progress.

These are the requirements for personal success, so give it some thought now. You don’t want to bite off more than you can chew... especially when the eyes of the game industry are upon you.
