There are 2 kinds of things in the journal. One is concept sketches and the other is thumbnails. The thumbnails were the first form that the script for Hero High appeared in. Basically, that's how I write comics. I scribble out these really rough drawings and then use them as a guide when I write my first draft script. Once I have the first draft script written, I do a more refined version of the thumbnails, with the dialogue written in. Then I can see how things flow. From this point on, I just make revisions to the script. I may occasionally draw a page layout if some major script surgery is required.
Anyways, I've added pages from my notebook to the Hero High Concept Art gallery, located on the left hand side of the Hero High property page. All my secrets are now laid bare. (...well, not all of them. I have more blog posts coming up next week - stay tuned!)

Your sketches look good, that's awesome that you're able to do it - I've read of a few artists who write in this manner and it just seems so logical to the format. I tried it some of my pitches... but it looked horrible... I'll focus on writing for now.

Awesome as always. I think my earliest memory of Z2H was going through your sketches for Mecha Syndrome, and I thought the same thing. "If only I could make roughs like that it would be so much easier to organize my thoughts" A neat little glimpse into your process, as always.

Hey Crackwalker, nice sketches!! I don't know why but I never put together the ninja motif with Viper before this. The ninja chain weapon was a give away finally.
Again, thanks for posting those!

Her weapon is called a kusarigama. For comic purposes she can fling out the chain and swing around like spiderman.

Yeah, that’s right! A kusari-gama! I forgot about that name. And Viper can swing with it? Cool! I like that comic book application! And does she use shuriken as well? Ya’ gotta’ have shuriken.
