I feel the appeal of NaNoWriMo.
Now, if Deutschmaschine is selected for the HGF obviously I'll have plenty of pleasurable writing to do and so, NaNoWriMo will not be an option, not by a long stretch. But if not...
I've always been interesting in novel-length writing, but never could bring myself to do it. I always lost focus at some point. But in a single month? Write, write, write, and not mind what happens? Heck, maybe, just maybe, I could deal with that?
Anyone here thinking about attempting to complete this insanity? It could be an enjoyable break from comic pitches and scripts. Elder Gods know a novel about Blank titillates the back of my mind right now...
(I think I've been reading Wlliam Gibson's Wikipedia entry too closely. But you have to admit the guy's story is mightily inspirational...!)

Ai-yi-yi, Caramba! This definitely sounds like fun - to try doing this alongside everyone else, but no matter how I look at it I can't see any way I can get this done. Still, there are still a couple of more weeks. And do check out the group, Fett!

Would this be your first nano Fett? I would be pleaed if you could join us, well not pleased for the why, but you know.

genre - you're scaring me with your evil talk. Do you guys have a grand plan I'm unaware of?
02:35 Mon Oct 13th, 2008
The grand plan is to trick you all into becoming novelists so that Asclepius and I can take over the comic writing market...

What GW meant to say in that comment is that there are a lot more fulfilling careers than comic writers, and that being a novelist is one of them. But since we can't all be famous novelists we're willing to be the ones to stay the course in this depressing profession so that the rest of you can go onto greater things.

Way to go! Now you scared TK away! He's a sensitive guy (that wanted to kick his cat).

I would be quite happy to have comic creating be my main full time gig, yes. But I would probably never stop writing novels and screenplays 'on the side'. And let's face it, if one of those other two areas took off, financially speaking, I'd be best served to do that one full time.

If you're ever in the market for a paid entourage, you just let us all know!

Unpaid groupies! Non unionized minions! How's a gal supposed to make a buck around here? Get a job? ptoo

I can do everything I set my mind to. So I can work full-time overnight, write a screenplay, a comic, a novel and participate in a comics draw-off at the same time.
BRING IT ON!!! (maybe)

Jooooiiiiiinnnn uuuusssss.
But really. Do it. Both of you. It's fun and infinitely easier to do when you're busy.

TK and Fett, you two should definitely sign up and join the group. Worst is you don't finish, but just maybe you'll end up with a finished novel. Even if you don't finish, maybe you'll find a story that you'll want to finish or tell in another form later.
Plus, we'll kill you if you don't. Just kidding...maybe.

No, I don't think anyone here is thinking about attempting it. Oh, except for the bunch of us in "Nanowrimo @ Z2H" on the groups page. Right now I think the plan it do compare all the finished novels at the end of the month, and there's a thread for dares of stuff to include in each other's novels. Join up, as we're going to try and keep each other going strong throughout November.
