Hey all,
Just wanted to give some words of congratulation and encouragement to all of our NSI playWRITErs who have been toiling non-stop on their designs over these past 2 months or so.

The deadline for design packages was on August 9th at midnight and i'm hoping every one of your spent your Sunday relaxing.

While the hardest part may be behind you, the most nerve-wracking part is likely ahead. Waiting! :O

As we enter the deliberation portion of the internship phase, we'll be keeping you up-to-date individually on any progress regarding studio decisions etc.

But in the meanwhile, you all deserve serious kudos for making it this far.

Our fingers are crossed for all you!

 :)

Firstly, congrats to Tenzil Kem for winning our first 'Play with the playWRITErs' challenge!

Today's challenge is a tone changing/word count exercise!

We asked NSI playWRITErs to come up with 20 'combat barks': 20 byte-sized pieces of dialog spoken by a character engaging in combat in a game:

e.g. I'm gonna make your nose a blood-faucet fool!

We then asked for these barks to

-have their language changed to AO rating

-have their word count cut by 50 percent

-be coupled with rejoiners to those barks by an NPC character

-have the rating of language changed to E for everyone

Now it's your turn!  Submit via private message your answers to the above exercise and you can win one of the four remaining weekly prizes!

Each prize pack contains one game for either PC, X360, Wii, PS2 (a randomly selected title) and a nice little trove of swag courtesy our friends at Radical Entertainment. The best entry will be determined by Z2H staffers. We will be giving out one of these little swag-bundles each day this week!

Good luck and send all answers to me via private msg!

"He scores! Henderson!" Well, okay, my victory may not have been as noteworthy as that famous Foster Hewitt call but it was sweet nonetheless. Thanks, Tristinian, I'll look forward to the shwag!

Dialog Stitching Exercise!

One of today's scramble exercise asked NSI playWRITErs to come up with as many ways of saying "Wicked Backhanded Goal!" in a hockey game as was possible in a time limit of approximately 40 minutes.

So in our first installment of 'Play with the playWRITErs', we offer you the same challenge! And every day this week we willbe challenging you with one of the NSI playWRITE scramble exercises, with a "Radical" prizepack on the line!

So now we put it to you: come up with as many ways of saying "Wicked Backhanded Goal!" in a hockey game context!

Your restraints are:
-the goal is scored in the 3rd period
-the home team has just scored and is now down by one goal with 60 seconds left in the period
-the game is a playoff game and is the determining game in a 2nd round playoff round
-the underdog for the home team scored the goal

Stitch together:
-play by play commentary (describing the goal)
-color commentary (the descriptive follow up)

e.g.

Play by play Color Commentary
It's a goal!! The home-town boy comes through!

Whoever can combine the most numerous and most colorful dialog stitches has the best chance, but remember--they all have to make sense in any combination of the two columns. Feel free to up the ante, by adding another play-by-play or color commentary column to your mix.

You'll need to post your answers here in the next day by Wednesday, 9pm PST to be eligible for this particular challenge.

Good luck and send all answers to me via private msg!
