You never cease to amaze me Nick.  Great interview!  Did you pick the topics or were they chosen?

For everyone who's waiting on pins and needles to discover who the winner of the Mind Crimes short story contest is, I'm sorry to say you're going to have to wait a week longer than expected. Instead of announcing the winner tomorrow (October 11th) as planned, I will be announcing the winner on Monday, October 27th.

Why? There are several stories that received a lot of community support, so I need to determine the winner very carefully, but after today I won't have time to do that for a couple weeks. So I apologize, but it's the entrants faults for submitting such strong stories...

...

In order to promote my new comic, Mind Crimes, I've come up with what I hope will be a fun contest for all you storytellers.

THE "MIND CRIMES" SHORT STORY CONTEST

"Mind Crimes" is the title of my comic, but what does that title mean to you? "Mind Crimes" is the theme of this short story contest, but I'm NOT looking for fan fiction. The stories can be about anything and be in any genre, as long as they're obviously inspired by the theme "Mind Crimes". The deadline is tight -- September 30, 2008 -- but the suggested word count is just 1000 words, and there is no lower limit. (Longer stories are acceptable, too.) Stories can also be in comic script format!

Free to enter. Multiple submissions allowed. Most popular story receives $100.

To submit your original story, go to the Mind Crimes property page and click the "BECOME A FAN!" button, which will sign you up for a free account with the Zeros2Heroes community (if you don't already have one). Then start a new post with the subject line "Mind Crimes: [Your Story Title]". Post your story.

As I said above, the most popular story will be the winner. So, once you post your story be sure to tell everyone you know to go click the Mind Crimes "BECOME A FAN!" button and then post comments in your story's blog. On October 11, 2008, I will select a winner from amongst the stories with the largest number of supporters.

Email me at genrewriter@gmail.com or PM me here if you have any questions.

I can't wait to see what fun stories people come up with! (But remember, I'm not looking for fan fiction, so please don't set your story in the Mind Crimes universe. And this is not an official Z2H contest!)

NOTE: If you cut and paste from another source, the quotation marks, elipses, and em-dashes will be replaced with question marks once you hit submit. Be sure to edit your post if this happens. Thanks.

Not set in the same universe as your comic... So the theme is 'Mind Crimes' but it should be about something new?
Correct?

So...what's on your mind? Hopefully you're just thinking happy thoughts, maybe even thinking how cool a comic Mind Crimes is. Even if your mind is cluttered...

So...what's on your mind? Hopefully you're just thinking happy thoughts, maybe even thinking how cool a comic Mind Crimes is. Even if your mind is cluttered with what to eat next, what your friends really think of your new haircut, and how you're ever going to pay off your credit card bills, and countless other major and minor stresses, you should consider yourself lucky. Byron Reborr has a stone cold killer on his mind. Literally. If you haven't read my comic, Mind Crimes, check it out and see for yourself what the consequence of mind merging can be. And this is just the beginning...

I repeat: This is just the beginning. Want to read more issues? See Mind Crimes as a movie? Or maybe even follow along with the weekly Mind Crimes TV series? Be sure to click that "BECOME A FAN!" button. And then check in on a regular basis. Start your own Mind Crimes discussion blogs, even. Or just participate in the discussions I'll be starting as often as possible. Together we can get that heat meter thingy flaming hot. Let's melt some minds!

A big THANK YOU in advance to everyone who reads, rates, fans, and participates. Mind Crimes isn't just my comic anymore--you all can play a real part in its future development.

GW - this was an incredibly good read.  I loved the scenes where Byron is stuck in his own mind and can't get out or control what his body is doing.
