The User Agreement
If you're a fan of comics, a creator yourself or someone who just can't resist offering their opinion (solicited or otherwise), you should give this section a careful once-over. This will prevent any possible future misunderstandings.
A big part of our core philosophy rotates around fan involvement: we literally want to get you folks in on the ground floor of the creative process and let your thoughts, ideas and opinions guide future development. This worked just fine with the ReBoot relaunch and we think it will work equally well other big name franchises.
We also want to extend this same open discussion to up-and-coming creators: much like any other writers' group, these folks want to hear your feedback... even if it's sometimes on the tough side.
But the quid pro quo is that any suggestions are freely given - if you suggest that a creator call the killer robot sidekick "Jonny", you have given that concept away. If the creator chooses to add a killer robot sidekick named "Johnny" that's their choice - you can't come around when they're basking in riches and claim co-authorship of their seven volume epic.
This is the standard convention in writers / playwrights / screen-writers workshops across the country: this spirit of give and take allows writers to connect with their peers in hopes of solving story problems. We want to create that same environment here because - ultimately - this will result in a stronger online community of creators.
Unfortuntely, it's a world full of lawyers out there so we've had to engage ours. We've prepared a user agreement that you will need to read and agree to before you start viewing pitches - the Pitch Doctor will automatically prompt you the first time you open any pitch.
You can download a copy by clicking on the button below - have a read and ask questions if it seems in any way unfair. Otherwise, we're looking forward to having you discover the next generation of comic greats.
| The Submission Agreement
We're big believers that any creator who chooses to work with Zeros 2 Heroes is very much a professional in their own right. To that end, we encourage you to read our paperwork - even the fine print - and satisfy yourself that the deal is right for you.
Below you'll find a download button that lets you save and review a copy of our Submission Agreement. This is very much an industry standard document, not unlike those you will find at other online and offline publishers.
Here are a few clauses worth noting:
* you recognize that there are LOT of similar ideas out there. The epic story of Jonny the Killer Robot sidekick may already be kicking around on a desk someplace in Zeros 2 Heroes. This a standard clause for any studio accepting outside submissions.
* any work that you submit is yours. You have the right to post it, enter into agreements concerning the property and shepherd it into production.
* you recognize that Zeros 2 Heroes has no obligation to use any submitted material. It just might not pass muster with the members of our community - sorry!
* even if your material is amazing, Zeros 2 Heroes will first execute a separate agreement with you before it goes into production.
We think this is all pretty straight forward... but maybe it isn't. Maybe we've forgotten something or maybe some unnecessarily draconian legal language has crept into the agreement. Let us know and if it needs correcting, we'll correct it.
This community is being built around the wants and needs of undiscovered creators like you. We think this document is a good first step in commemorating what we hope will be a great partnership. |
