Dini to oversee Comic Creation Nation Los Angeles (PRWEB) November 15, 2007 -- Zeros 2 Heroes, the niche online comics and genre entertainment social network, announced today the addition of Warner Bros./DC Comics' writer and producer Paul Dini to its leadership team. The Emmy Award-winning writer will serve as Editor-in-Chief for Zeros 2 Heroes' Comic Creation Nation and will be a member of Zeros 2 Heroes Board of Directors, alongside Greg Zeschuk (President and Co-Executive Producer at BioWare Corp, recently acquired by EA) and former Lucasfilm and Hanna-Barbera business affairs executive Paul Gertz (Executive Vice President of Rainmaker Animation).
Dini will provide guidance and creative oversight for all digital comic books produced under Comic Creation Nation, a campaign that gives fledgling writers and artists the chance to pitch their story ideas to an online community of thousands of fanboys.
"The Zeros 2 Heroes' Comic Creation Nation is an exciting initiative that harnesses the power of the web to identify the next generation of storytellers," Dini says. "There are no gatekeepers here: This is a major opportunity for undiscovered creators to make their mark, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be behind this incredibly rewarding campaign.
" Regardless of their experience with comic writing, aspiring screenwriters, wannabe novelists, playwrights and journalists have been submitting new story ideas through the Comic Creation Nation. After the online community rates, reviews and refers these works, the creators polish their ideas based on real-time fan feedback. Each story concept selected as a "People's Choice" will go into production and be created as a professional digital comic book - the first major step in bringing the works of undiscovered writers to mainstream entertainment studios.
"From Rainmaker Animation's perspective, we're always looking for great stories to develop into film and television properties, and with the vast number of creative pitches already surfacing on the Zeros 2 Heroes website, Comic Creation Nation is further proof that great stories can come from anywhere," says Paul Gertz, who, in addition to acting as Chairman of Zeros 2 Heroes Media, serves as Executive Vice President of Rainmaker Animation, the award-winning, visual-effects and CG animation film production company. "The addition of Paul Dini to this unique campaign is another major step forward as we aim to develop the talent of these undiscovered comics and genre entertainment writers."
Dini is best known as a producer and writer for several Warner Bros./DC Comics series, including Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, The New Batman/Superman Adventures and Batman Beyond. He also developed and produced Duck Dodgers and contributed scripts to Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. After leaving Warner Bros. in early 2004, Dini went on to write and story-edit scripts for Lost. In 2006, he became the writer for DC Comics' Detective Comics. In 2007, he was announced as the head writer of Countdown, DC's year-long weekly comic event.
