Zeros 2 Heroes representatives take part in the Banff New Media Institute Interactive Project Lab

Vancouver, British Columbia (January 7, 2008) – Zeros 2 Heroes Media representatives recently made a trip to the Banff New Media Institute and took part in a 5-day Interactive Project Lab. The Banff Centre is a leader in local, national and international stages in the development and promotion of creative work in the arts, sciences, business, and the environment. Representatives of Zeros 2 Heroes Media were able to make contact with some of Canada’s fastest growing creative companies in hopes of widening the scope of communication and develop relationships with some of Canada’s media and television giants.

“Artists and companies spending intensive and focused amounts of time together is one of the great things about meeting in Banff.  The Zeros 2 Heroes project exemplified this by spending the time during the workshop not only working through their own questions and development needs but also by connecting with a significant number of the other projects. We saw an interesting synergy going on where one of our gaming companies from Alberta got turned onto the potential of on-line comics and ended up being mentored in part by the Zeros 2 Heroes team,” says Susan Kennard, Director & Executive Producer, Banff New Media Institute.

As a technically based online social networking company, Zeros 2 Heroes Media is always looking for more ways to expand their knowledge of the online world and reach out to companies with similar goals. Although based mostly in the development of online comics, Zeros 2 Heroes Media is a space for creative people to meet, share ideas, and brainstorm story concepts and artwork. The Banff Institute’s Interactive Project Lab was another way for the people behind Zeros 2 Heroes Media to develop strong relationships with companies looking to take their ideas beyond traditional media.

“We learned more about the state of the new media landscape in Canada, specifically as it pertains to Film and Television, and were please to find that the Zeros 2 Heroes model has the potential to aid in the development of all kinds of different media pursuits,” says Zeros 2 Heroes Media President Matt Toner. “Zeros 2 Heroes is very happy to have been a part of the Banff New Media Institutes unique endeavor to bring creative thinkers together.”

While attending the Interactive Project Lab, Zeros 2 Heroes Media representatives were able to make contact and share ideas with 14 other unique and exciting companies from across Canada. The exchanging of ideas and the development of solid relationships is something that has already benefited everyone in attendance.

The Banff Centre is a hub for creative thinkers and giving companies such Zeros 2 Heroes Media a chance to network and provide guidance in some way was an opportunity that is already showing some benefits. Zeros 2 Heroes Media is now in talks with a number of companies that attended the Interactive Project Lab and will look to move forward on some new concepts and directions in early 2008.
