A Brief History of ReBoot

With a 1994 debut, ReBoot was the first full length computer animated television series.  It followed a cast of characters that fight viruses and games inside a computer system named Mainframe. While the show was made for children it attracted an adult audience with its ground breaking animation, pop culture references and its slang born from technology references. Children and their parents loved it and the show was distributed globally, spawning merchandise from calendars to key chains.

Computer animation was in its infancy when Reboot was first produced and as the technology evolved so did the look of the characters and their world in Mainframe. The show also changed in its tone and content: it also became darker.  The villainous characters became increasingly sinister and duplicitous and the world of Mainframe was constantly on the brink of extinction. Reboot was growing up along with its audience.

The last episode of Reboot aired in November of 2001 with a cliffhanger that left the residents of Mainframe in peril. Through websites and online forums, the fans called for the series to continue: there were too many lingering questions that needed answers.

For all you long-suffering fans, the time has come to continue the saga.  And this time, you get to call the shots.
