A young and upcoming guitar player, disgruntled by his lifestyle, breaks a speaker during a crowded house show in front of his horrified bandmates. Later, once left by himself, he realizes the core of his frustration: living in busy New York City, he is surrounded by the incessant rumble of a city that he cannot identify with. Strumming and picking his strings, he stumbles by accident across a stream of notes that resonate endlessly in his mind. Fascinated, unable to escape the spell he weaved upon himself, he plays on and on until the world around him starts to change. He finds himself in a world beside our world, and ends up meeting several eldritch and otherworldly beings made out of human concepts and perceptions. Driven by his fascination, he takes on a guide and tours this world, until his fated quest finds him: conquering the very idea of what has been missing in life. Digging deeper into this materialized mindscape, our hero dives headfirst into a world not made for humans, intent on merely one thing: to find and to win the right to walk side-by-side with the very incarnation of what he never had in life. Facing ordeals and challenges meant to prove his worth, Maxwell wins the unexpected fate of witnessing an unbearable Perception that humans can scarcely hope to survive: the face of Silence herself. Will he survive? Will he succumb? Or will he find in her visage the one perfect infatuation he has always sought? |
