A versatile performer/creator, I attended The National Theatre School of Canada where, along with many acting classes, I also studied storytelling under Sherry Bie and writing under playwright Sheldon Rosen. Since graduating I have been an underemployed Actor/Director/Playwright/Singer/Songwriter/Musician (not necessarily in that order) all across Canada. I am as comfortable with Shakespearean text as I am with developing new Canadian plays and employ an approach to acting which is inclusive of external classical technique as well as the more modern 'method' approach of the New York schools rooted in the work of CS Stanislavski. My training and experience give me a strong grounding in dramatic structure and character expression and development which I enjoy making use of to explore and expose the nature of the human condition. Relationships, desires, personal challenges and antagonism spur us on to action. The secret wish within the human heart is my playground. My play Canada Jacks, adapted from The Province of Calgary by Lee Larson, was self directed and produced by Simple Truth Theatre at Theatre Passe Murraille in December of 2005. I have other scripts in mid development and operated a roughly bi weekly shaving blog at Straight Razor Place for approximately two years. Although I am unpublished, I have recently returned to putting figurative pen to paper for poetic purposes as well. Juggling my talents has been challenging but writing, like my other creative disciplines, has always been important and has always been present. |
