The time: Ancient Rome, soon before the Dark Ages Septimus was a typical Roman, until the day he awoke with no memory only to find himself guilty of murder. Forced to be a gladiator, Septimus knew that he had to escape or die. The only hope lay far from the epicenter of western civilization that was Rome, and in the far off reaches of Britannia. There, amongst the violent Barbarians, Picts, and Druids, he hoped to find his brother Sextus. A powerful and glorious Legionnaire, Septimus hoped that his older brother could find a way to clear his name. But all is not well in Britannia. Sextus disappeared months before investigating the slaughter of an entire village, and the locals live in fear of the dark. When he meets Briana, a beautiful Celt, it seems that he may have found hope for the future. Until he learns of the corpses, drained of blood, that have begun to appear across the land. What starts as a search for innocence becomes a bloody struggle as Septimus must join with the Barbarians he has been taught to hate in order to stop a legion of the bloodthirsty Undead, hellbent on consuming the world. And before long, the trail of corpses leads all the way back to Rome and the secrets he has tried so hard to forget. A tale of battle, darkness, redemption, and true evil, Dark Ages will cut a bloody swathe through history and its demons.
