The artwork was excellent, and so was the storyline.

Patricio rocks! That is the sweetest colour job.
And a neat story on top of it all. It's like Professor Umbridge all over again.

Another great addition to the finished comics!  The story, characters and art are all just perfect.  Fala's eyes are hauntingly beautiful.  I look forward to seeing more work from you Beth!

It's snowing today and very beautiful outside. The sun is so bright! I'm plotting sneaking out to take holiday photos of my six month old baby boy Mal, except that he's outgrown all of his fleecey outfits. Oh man I just remembered he has a snowsuit!...
It's snowing today and very beautiful outside. The sun is so bright! I'm plotting sneaking out to take holiday photos of my six month old baby boy Mal, except that he's outgrown all of his fleecey outfits. Oh man I just remembered he has a snowsuit!

I found out I had won the first round of the APTN contest when I came back from the hospital after Mal arrived a month early in a bit of a chaotic round of HELLP Syndrome. I remember the sun was shining then too on the drive home in Vancouver.

I wrote Fala late at night when I was pregnant thinking I had a baby boy, but one day I would have a baby girl too. The West Was Lost is for my boy, and Fala is for my girl in years to come.

For them, for all of our youth, for the next generation interested in mixing tradition with media and contemporary popular culture to make it our own.

You must be so excited to have two great comics up, and it's wonderful that you'll be able to share them with your children.
