For all its innovation since beginning operation in 2006, Zeros 2 Heroes will enjoy its first profitable year. The Vancouver-based social media company that connects makers of comics, films, animations and video games with their audiences is just completing its fiscal year, and its $1.2 million in revenue will push the company into the black for the first time. Z2H president Matt Toner said this is partly the result of switching the focus of the business. "In 2007 and 2008, when social media was just kicking off, we thought we could monetize eyeballs, through advertisements, sponsorships, membership fees," said Toner. "That model really collapsed. We switched to business-to-business."
